Happy Birthday Ann Robson. Here we are a few years back when we met up at Fort Worden beach where her and Andy were camping. Ann's been a lifesaver these past months when Jen and I need to go to Swedish in Seattle. She picks us up and when she can, takes us back to the ferry again. We appreciate it too. (I could never be a downtown Seattle driver for a friend)
Going to be a quiet and peaceful day for me by all the indications so far. Jenni is off for the day to work on a halloween party she's throwing with a friend tomorrow night. I plan on working on a sewing project as soon as I finish blogging and then I'll settle in to work on my book. I played around with it yesterday and didn't get anything else done...but that's okay.
I took a couple of backyard photos this morning. Always nice to peek out your bedroom window when you get up and see some color growing in the dark, wet atmosphere. Sue had planted some wild flowers for me a while back and they're doing real good right now.
One of my pretty little trees is holding on to just a few more leaves but I can't imagine they'll be there much longer.
I had one stale crust of bread to dispose of so I took it outside and crumbled it up for the birds. I had barely made it back inside when their lookout started cawing to announce breakfast was served. In they came.
Watched a little baseball last night and then switched over to Amazon Prime to watch two more episodes of Goliath with Billy Bob Thornton and William Hurt. Interesting notes on Billy Bob: he's been married six times, one of those wives was Angelina Jolie. He started his career playing drums and singing in a band. Once opened for Hank Williams, Jr. Neglected his health for a period of time and landed in the hospital with heart problems due to malnutrition. I thought he was great in Sling Blade. You should go read his bio on IMDB. Fascinating stuff there.
Two stories Jenni told me this morning before she left:
She had stopped in at Traylor's to visit Maddie who was waiting tables. Maddie asked her when Thanksgiving was and then proceeded to tell her about this customer who didn't even know when halloween was. Jenni recalled the conversation she had had with Maddie about Thanksgiving.
Maddie: What day of the week does Thanksgiving fall on this year?
Jenni: Thursday. It's always on a Thursday.
Maddie: Really? Always?
Another friend told Jenni that her cat had just given birth to six kittens but the mother ate them. UGH! The one she didn't eat, they're calling Crumbs (because mama was too full and didn't eat the leftover crumbs.) Sigh....
Well, time to set the laptop off to the side and set up my sewing machine. Have one audio book onhand but it doesn't really interest me so I think I'll make a quick library run and bring home a fresh supply before I settle in.
Here's a shot of Jake watching his dad's prized train set from his childhood.
I've got my fingers crossed for Thanksgiving this year. Depending on Andy's work schedule, they may drive over for the Thursday dinner. Catie and Brandon too. If work interferes, though, Mary will cook at her house and Catie will go there. Jen and I will cook here and see who all shows up. Maddie may have to work.
