My hands are like ice today, and I just can't seem to warm up worth a darn. Ran to Safeway early to get $13 worth of items and hustled on back home to try and warm up. Have to go out again in about 15 minutes as I stopped at the optometrist office to see if he could tell me what kind of eyedrops to buy. I'm on my third try and while the latest one didn't seem to bother me yesterday, this morning I teared up and had burning like a son of a gun! Way too uncomfortable to think about trying it again. The pharmacist at Safeway suggested I get my eyes checked to see if I have some kind of injury or tear or something? Sigh..... I just went to the eye doctor in September of 2015 (and that wasn't cheap as I needed new lens) but I can't keep going on with this eye issue indefinitely. I think it might be related to psoriasis as my eyelid breaks out now and then with the disease and it looks all red and ugly. Disappears again so I'm never really sure if it is psoriasis or maybe a food allergy. And there's always that "stale winter air in the house" that you can't rule out as well. I have started keeping a pan of water on the stove in the kitchen but they may or may not have a single thing to do with it.
Jenni had to leave at 5 a.m. to catch a super early ferry for a 9 a.m. appointment at Swedish. Poor thing. I'll be glad when she's home and safe. Wind was kicking up a storm earlier but it's quit now. Sky looks like it's not finished, however. Yesterday, Wayne called to tell her that a big tree on the neighbor's property fell over and just missed hitting their house. It did take out a lattice wall they had set up with flowers.
Okay. More later.... Gotta head downtown.
In and out of the optometrist chair. Didn't see anything significant with my eyes but said I need to use artificial tears for two weeks FOUR times a day and then cut down to two times a day. Apparently, artificial tears are different than eyedrops. Bought a $5 bottle from his receptionist but she didn't have change so told me to pay next time. If my eyes are better in two weeks, however, I don't see the need to go back in for a second appt. If they're still acting up, then I will. He said AGE contributes. Of course, it does! Age is wearing me down little by little.
Today I'm bothered with a very sore thumb. I know darn well it's arthritis but I'll just have to deal with it. Probably the knitting I've been doing hasn't helped any but my afghan is close to being done and then I'll take a breather from needle work. The whole body is fighting me this month. After I left the eye doctor, I stopped by Walgreen's to pick up some reprints. Parked my car, climbed out, and almost fell down. My knee (the one that hasn't been replaced) just gave out. Hurt to high heaven. I yelled OW!, hung on to my car for a second, moved my leg up and down and tried to decide if I was strong enough to walk across the parking lot and then through the store. I wanted those pictures so I grabbed my walking stick in the back seat and proceeded carefully. I am 73 after all and I know lots of people around my age who use a cane for more stability. That just may be on my agenda for 2017.
That particular knee (especially behind the knee) has been bothering me for weeks. Been getting a little worse through December, I've noticed, and kept hoping maybe the weather was the reason why.
And the weather could be partly to blame but I imagine the weight issue and the age issue is playing into it too. It is a nuisance when you can't sit down without it hurting. That was part of the reason I wasn't getting any writing done. I've been switching out chairs in here trying to find one that would let me sit without pain and get up and walk afterwards. I've just got to remember that I'm no spry chicken anymore and I'd best watch my movements up and down and all around! I definitely DO NOT want to fall down. I can just imagine the commotion a fall in that parking lot would have caused. Especially if I had to struggle getting up again. People with cell phones would be calling 911 and next thing you know, the sirens would be howling, people would be staring, and I'd have all these cute young things wanting to take me to the hospital. Oh, horrors! Just the thought of it gives me the heebee jeebies.
Stopped at Papa Murphys to pick up a pizza for me and Jen tonight. I'm going to have to start looking around at other pizza joints to see if their prices are better. Papa is getting a tad expensive for the kind I like (garlic chicken).
Watched Michelle Obama talking to Oprah last night. I think I like her more now than I did before. She spoke very well but did say "You know" an awful lot and that surprised me concerning how educated she is. Maybe it's having two teenage daughters around. I sure don't relish having Trump's wife as the first lady. I've already decided I'm not going to tune in whenever she's on the air. Same with Trump. The less I have to listen and watch that buffoon the better.
Pictures for today.....
Hunter's beer can Christmas tree
The sign on Amber & Tyler Johnson's fence on Jefferson Street in PT. (My cousin, Susie's son)
a picture of Pooh, reading my Christmas card to Katrina and Grant Walker in Beaver, WV (Grant is the son of my cousin, Claude)
two PT downtown street scenes that Mary Gaboury's daughter, Kathleen, took recently. I thought they were so good, I had reprints made to show a couple family members who don't have computers.
