Woke up to a frosty 35 degrees but I'm still thankful that snow episode is over. At least I hope it's over. A tad early to think we won't get any more before winter is over.
I woke up at 3 a.m. with a terrible sore hip. Must be sciatica since I felt some foot numbness too. I did a few exercises right then and there and I must have loosened up something because I was able to go back to sleep on my side. For a while. Once I turned to the other side, I was done for. I finally got up at 5 and repeated my routine of the last two previous mornings where I finish out my snooze in the recliner. Not ideal but these days I'm thankful for any sleep I can get. It does make for a drowsy day, however, and I've been kind of dragging along -- waiting for night time bed. Sigh...
I was determined to push on through my day and I finished up the baby quilt I've been working on the last couple of weeks. Really felt good too! I put a cross stitch label on the back and folded it up in the gift sack and topped it with a big ole pink dog.
Once I finished the blanket, I had to put everything away that I had hauled out to the kitchen to work on. (ironing board, sewing machine, cutting board, supplies, etc) Then I had to vacuum the house. I've found that sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and picking up WEAR ME OUT a whole lot faster than it ever used to. Jenni and I both have to plan our chores in steps so we can get them done but not kill ourselves in the process. I had to sit down three times because my back and hips and legs and knees are OLD!
A little after noon we decided to go to the library. I love the library but like everything else I do now, I have to take it easy and usually end up cutting my browsing down to a shorter period of time. I can't even sit on the little hammocks they provide here and there because they're too close to the ground and I wouldn't be able to get up again. How the hell did this happen to me?! Yeah, I know. Too many cookies. Ha Ha
Anyhow, Jenni got the one book she was looking for. A prequel to the Left Alone series. I picked up 5 free quilt magazines and 2 mags on writing. I also got two audio books -- The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot and English Creek by Ivan Doig. I picked up two books by Shirley Maclaine 'Dance while you can' and 'Sage-ing while Age-ing'. Also found a little book called 'Writing down the bones' and a biography on Waylon Jennings and a crime novel called NYPD Puzzle.
I went to Subway on the way home as I was starved. Well, maybe not that drastic but you know what I mean. After while I got sleepy and thought I'd try to take a nap in my bed for an hour instead of using the recliner. For some reason, I couldn't get warm even with my new comforter. I got up and worked on editing my book a bit. That always cheers me up.
It's 5 pm and Jenni just left to meet a friend. I'm going to fix a piece of fish for a fishwich and make a salad for supper. Then it'll be recliner time to watch tv and then hit the sack. Tomorrow and the two days following I'll work on my book and then Saturday, it's off to Port Townsend for a funeral.
