Sitting here this chilly Sunday morning and hoping the rains get going. Weatherman (or weather girl sometimes) says we've got a few days to wait. But then I've found the Seattle weather casts are not usually the same for our neck of the woods. And the weather up on my hill here in W. Port Angeles is not even the same as downtown Port Angeles half the time! Got the heat on and intend to stay inside. Here's the snow still keeping me company in my back yard this morning. A LOT less but I want it all gone!
Received a few really good Port Townsend memories in my email box yesterday so I'm anxious to get going on my book again. Am editing each chapter and it's a slow but necessary process.
I took a Cornish game hen out of the freezer and have it thawing in the sink. That should make a quick and easy dinner so I can crash in my recliner and watch the Grammys. Am all ready to mute all those "really popular stars of today" who I find utterly irritating. But....there should be a few that pass the mustard with me. I like Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga and quite a few others really.
Went to a fun baby shower at a sports bar downtown yesterday. Jenni and the "gramma-to-be" had been busy for weeks on the invitations, decorations, favors, food, flowers, etc. One of the prettiest showers I've ever been to really. And the "grampa" used all his techy talent to live wire the event in process so his mother could see it in Idaho. I think he also put it on YouTube but I couldn't find it. One of the games was Jeopardy. Very clever.
I took about 5 dozen pics with my new camera but I must have had my finger on the clicker 'cause I had to delete A LOT OF THEM as I picked up the floor, the ceiling, and nothing in particular. Also need to play around with the settings as they came out way too big and I had to reduce each one.
Here's a few...
Loved these cute little lambs at the tables that Jen made from wash cloths.
Every table had a bouquet of pink roses. Yep. It's a girl.
Jen supervised the Jeopardy game with dad and mom, John & Ashley
The Gramma (Julie) with Jenni
Wayne and Brett (the grandpa)
I sure am enjoying my new cell phone. It took me a while (still learning) to figure out how things worked but luckily, it's like Jenni's phone so she could show me some things I don't think I ever would have found on my own! Really ticks me off that those booklets that come with it don't actually explain a lot of the things you need to know. I guess they expect us all to be like teenagers and just get it with no problem. I was anxious to find a good ringtone and Maddie downloaded Zedge for me. I settled on "Old Time Rock and Roll" but also liked "Hello Darlin'" so I may switch back and forth. Had to turn off the notification tones as they woke me up THREE times last night --and the phone weren't even in my bedroom. Jenni told me I needed to keep the text notification in case someone was trying to reach me in a hurry. Well, few of my friends text and no one really needs me in a hurry anymore. I definitely didn't need to hear a ding everytime somebody posted on Facebook. That was driving me right up the wall!
I finally got my computer to recognize and accept my phone photos so that made me happy. Now I have to figure out how to download music. I've got my computer photos on a USB stick but have so many, I don't actually want them on my phone. I do want a wallpaper picture of Port Townsend, though. I also might want to find a game to play. Jenni seems to be hooked on candy crush but that one doesn't look all that interesting to me. Maybe I'll try Wheel of Fortune or some slot machine game. Or not. I LOVE that I can say OK GOOGLE...and then ask my question. How cool is that? Google gives me info on whatever subject I ask. Course my first questions was "Who is Joyce Blankenship?" ha ha It's all about me, 'ya know.
Stopped by Safeway after the shower to pick up a few items. Remind me not to go on a Saturday afternoon. I knew better. Noticed they started a new Monopoly game at checkout so I took my little game pieces and will hope for a winner.
Jenni is going to Bremerton in the morning for her first infusion. Doesn't want me to go as she wants some alone time. I may go next month, though; want to visit my friend, Carol. I need to get into Port Townsend too. Maybe this week. My sister has some material for me and Joanne has some beads.
I was looking for something interesting to watch on Amazon last night and came across some Survivor type movies. I love those and was delighted -- until I started watching. After three different tries, I decided they were all pathetic excuses for a movie. Darn it anyhow!
For some reason, my hotmail had some pics from instagram that people had posted so I'll add them to my blog this morning. I belong to Instagram but seldom go to that website. Maybe I'll start going if I can see pictures. Here's Maddie in the snow somewhere? and Ann Robson and Andy (from Issaquah) with two of their granddaughters.
Guess I'll go pour a second cup of coffee and catch up on a couple of letters. Need to google about support hose too. My right knee area (not the replacement knee) has been aching off and on for some time. Not the knee itself so much but behind and below going towards the calf. Seems to get worse if I sit at the computer. I found these compression thigh high stockings that I had to wear for a while after my knee replacement and I wondered if it might help the achiness. They're not terribly comfortable once they reach the thighs (lot of blubber there) but since it's the bottom half of my legs that need some help, I'm going to keep wearing them for a few days to see if things improve. I could understand achy legs if I was up and about but sitting down? I love to sit. ha ha
