A Sunday in April

Was nice to wake up to blue skies today.  I ran an early errand to Safeway to redeem some free items from their stupid Monopoly game.  Figured I went early enough to beat the crowds but nope.  Passed a few folks around my age looking over the aisles for their free stuff too.

Came home and wrote a few emails and then I decided spur of the minute to just step out in the backyard and see what I could do in the way of "little cosmetic jobs."  I spend perhaps 15-20 minutes tops and I was exhausted.  Lawn is uneven so that required being a little more careful about picking up my feet.  Clipped a few dead branches, moved the hose caddy from the garage to the backyard, cleaned out the tool chest box (damn slimy slugs!) picked up Sammy poop, moved a planter to the deck that had green leaves with tulips about to bloom, set out my "toys",  rinsed out my tool caddy, and moved the outside extension cord to the garage.  Little stuff but I figure if I go slow and do just a few minutes now and then, maybe I can make it halfway nice.

Lawn needs mowing but all in good time, I guess. I sure do enjoy watching what my neighbors over the east fence are doing.  Thankfully, the neighbors to my west aren't "into lawn work" so I don't stick out like a sore thumb.  Ha! Here's some pictures she posted on Facebook.

I guess I'll get back to my quilting project now. Had way more problems following directions yesterday than I wanted.  Story of my life.  When I finish, the panel is supposed to look something like this.  Mine will be its own design I've already decided.

Made a stew in the crockpot yesterday so I don't have to work on dinner tonight. Will probably curl up and watch more Dick Cavett interviews. I sent him a fan letter type message yesterday on his Facebook page.  Wonder if he ever goes to Facebook. Probably not.  I watched part of a Katherine Hepburn interview (thinking it would really be good) but surprisingly she was boring.  I quit watching after a half hour or so but maybe I'll go back sometime and give it another try. He actually gave her two shows so perhaps she got better as it went along. Some folks are really uncomfortable being interviewed and you can always tell.  She was one. So was Robert Mitchum and Fred Astaire.
Watched Steven Spielberg yesterday and I barely recognized him as he was very young.

I'm really enjoying these episodes; more so than the old Merv Griffin shows. He's had several folks on there who were downright annoying with their showoff mouths.  I'm counting on it to improve as I used to really like watching him.

I got an email from a book store owner in PT who's agreed to stock my book. Plan on dropping off ten copies next week.  That was good news.

Well, I got some free hot dog buns at Safeway so think I'll go cook a weiner up for lunch. Oh, and Happy Birthday to my Aunt Lillian who would be 92 today (if she was still with us). She died in '99.
