Kind of a frustrating day so far

I spent the morning kind of running in circles.  My first two stops (at Jen's house to take her newspaper for wrapping) and a quick stop at the corner grocery to mail off two books went pretty well. Even found two dimes on Jenni's sidewalk. I always like finding money.  Everything kind of went downhill from there.

I drove to city hall thinking that was where the auditor's office was to inquire about the registration I couldn't find in my glove box for my tabs (which are current but I still wanted that piece of paper.) She directed me to the courthouse a block away. I don't know why I can't keep them straight. Cause I'm old and stupid, I guess.  I drove over and then I recalled why I hated going to the courthouse. The parking lot is huge and you can never find a spot.  It was extra awful this morning so I left the parking lot and decided I'd stop on the way back home.

Got out to Walmart and luckily, there wasn't a line at the pharmacy. Lot of good that did me, though. One wasn't ready even though it was called in yesterday. Told me to come back in 20 minutes or so. I did have some shopping to do so I proceeded to look for the items on my list.  The garden department was as far away from me as it could get after I left the fabric dept. but oh well....I picked up a small bag of soil, three pretty outdoor flower plants, and headed back to the pharmacy.

She brings my two and I have to wait after paying so the pharmacist can tell me about the pill I've already been taking. Sigh...then I notice it's only a months' supply and I had specifically called in requesting three months so I didn't have to drive across town so frequently.  He went back to his computer and said my call was noted but the doctor's office hadn't replied so if I wanted to wait another half hour or so, I could come back and pick it up.

My legs and feet were bothering me big time this morning and I just couldn't last that much longer. Unfortunately, I suspect I've got a couple of hammer toes on my left foot and perhaps plantar fascitis on my right foot.  My legs bothered me something awful on Monday when I drove to PT but I figured it would pass with rest.  Nope.  Not this time.

I took the pills and then headed to checkout with my other purchases.  Only a couple aisles open and they were clear down at the other end of the checkout area.  Unless I wanted to check myself out -- which I didn't.  I do get annoyed with Walmart's lack of customer service.  They suck!  Eventually, I get back to my car and thankful I'm almost done with errands.  I head back to the courthouse and find a spot a little closer to the building than two blocks away.  I head inside and I'm sixth in line. Sigh....
by then, my legs, feet, and low back were killing me.  I proceeded to share with the lady behind me how much I hated standing in lines.  She said in California, she'd been in lines out the door and down the block. Ridiculous!

By the time I get to the front of the line, the girl tells me I can either pay $10 for a new piece of paper or pay my tabs for next year early.  Well, neither one of those choices suited me so I told her I'd just drive careful and  hope I wasn't stopped.  I get back to my car and decide to look in my glove box one more time.  I never throw stuff like those registrations away (I had several years' worth in there) and what do I find inside my car manual?  Yep. The paper I was looking for.  I was so mad I wanted to cry. Mainly because I'd searched my car and my house the day before.

I had one more errand to run but my steam was really running out. Thankfully, there wasn't a line at the photo/lottery ticket counter at Safeway where I buy my money orders.  I scoot on home and Sammy is beside himself with happiness to see me.  That helps but my legs sure are achy now. Think I'll go grab an ibuprofen.

Yesterday I noticed my large bird bath wasn't holding water anymore.  I've had it for many years. Somebody left it when I bought my mobile home in Sequim back in 2004.  Walmart didn't have any large plastic planter holders so opted to use a garbage can lid I had.  It looks just fine.

Had to put a piece of driftwood on it to keep the wind from carrying it away.  I bought three little pots of flowers to plant in a planter box on my porch but not sure if I'll get to it today.  My poor body is giving me a lot of grief today.  I wonder if it's because I put those inserts in my shoes to try and help the heels?  Whatever.  It's always something.

I was plenty tired yesterday from my trip into Port Townsend the day before but I was determined to get at least a little bit of sewing done.  I worked on this quilt panel that has bird houses and today or tomorrow I may attempt to do some hand sewing around the applique pieces. My hand sewing is really dreadful but I know it's never going to get better if I don't practice.
I had a cup of pumpkin left over from when I made cookies a few days ago so I thought I'd go online and find a pumpkin muffin recipe so I could use it up.  Don't know what I did wrong but they sure turned out icky. I gave them to the birds.

I was going to make a library run today but I've got a book on hold and I'm waiting for it to arrive from Clallam Bay.  I think our library trades back and forth with Clallam, Forks, and Sequim.  I wanted to read The Way West by A.B. Guthrie (a Pulitzer winner) but it didn't seem to be available anywhere so I decided to read three by Conrad Richter. The Trees, The Fields, and The Town.  The Town got the Pulitzer but it didn't seem to be available except on CD so I'll hunt around and read The Trees first.  I may make a run to Goodwill to look for The Way West. I know I've seen that book somewhere before. I probably even had it on my own bookshelves at one time.

Went to the doctor yesterday because the b/p readings I've been taking for two weeks have been high and I didn't think the pill she prescribed was working. Come to find out, the pill was for kidney function and not blood pressure. And my reading in her office was okay so she wants me to bring the b/p cuff in in two weeks to see if it's giving false readings. I guess they do that.  She said those cuffs in drug stores also run high.  Then what good are they?!

I had to have a blood draw to see if my kidney function numbers were improving but I haven't heard back yet. I assume they'll still be low. I certainly haven't done anything special to raise the reading.  Not sure really what I can do.  Drink more water, I think she said, and oh yeah, the ole standby -- lose weight.

I watched this movie the other night about this guy (Kenny Saylors) who went on a 55-day fast drinking only water. He lost 40+ pounds but now I see he's put it all back on and trying again.  I think I'm going to follow his journey as it looks interesting.  On youtube?  Not sure.  I know his website is reinventingkenny.com

Here's the pictures I took while in PT delivering my books here and there.
Chuck and Julie Boggs on West Valley Road. Loved seeing their place.

Old farmhouse and buildings about ready to fall down on W.V. Road in Chimacum.  Nisbet place back in the day.

I left ten books at the William James Bookseller Store at 829 Water so I'm hoping they fly off the shelf.  Ha!

Guess I'll scoot out to the kitchen now and fill my vitamin pill dispenser cups.  Kind of wet and damp around here today but it is April, after all.  Hard to believe that my dad died this month eight years ago.  I don't have much planned for Easter.  In fact, I don't have one single thing planned that entire week.

Jenni and I competed with each other wrapping up our Easter packages to send off to Jake. She won because she had better stickers but he was thrilled to get two boxes in the mail. Mary sent me three photos.
