My Wednesday

Looks and feels like a change in the weather is coming.  I've been kind of groggy all day long. Gonna' blame it on the weather; at least for now.  I have managed to get a little bit done around here but not too much. -- and I don't really care!  Darn feet are acting up something fierce. Pretty sure it's plantar fascitis (in both of them no less!).  Google showed me what exercises to do but you pretty much have to wait for it to pass, I think.  Supposed to take it easy, take some pills, and see a doctor for an injection if it's not better in a few months.  What?!  Actually, I think it's been coming on for weeks as I've had difficulty wearing various pairs of shoes and  walking in general. Think I'm going to use a walking stick most of the time now.  A nuisance.

I wanted to get my photos on my hard drive cleaned up and sorted so decided that was a good sit down job to do.  Seems like I have to do this frequently or it gets away from me fast--thanks to the technology of digital cameras and cell phones.  But I'm okay with that.  I've always loved taking pictures and started in once my youngest was born.  Picture taking was kind of hard in those days what with the film you had to buy, the camera flash cubes, and then getting them developed and seeing that most of them were crummy.

I've got my photo folders down to FAMILY/PEOPLE/PLACES/MISC.  Inside each of those folders is a TON of other sub folders.  Probably thousands of pictures.  I've got another folder devoted to SCHOOL.  That one has alumni reunion folks, parties, and a huge amount of photos kept through the years.  Fun to look at.

Out of curiosity, I decided to take the time to count my pictures for the four grandchildren.  I knew Jake would have the most and Catie the least.  Mainly because she was born in 1989 and he was 2013.  I took a lot of pictures of Catie and they fill albums but digital cameras let me go wild with the last three grandkids.  Catie (on my hard drive only) has 139 photos.  Hunter has 209.  Maddie has 216, and Jacob has 628!    I guess I like him the best.  ha ha ha ha ha ha

He's coming to stay the night with me this Friday and I'll return him to his mom at Discovery Bay on Saturday afternoon/evening.  She's attending a couple of parties.  I'm a little concerned that I can't be the peppy grandma I used to be when Catie and the twins were little but I'll manage. Maddie and Jenni will be here too so he's not bored out of his tree with his fat gramma who only wants to sit.  ha ha

Started reading 'The Memoirs of Charley Blankenship' this week. An old western I picked up on ebay several years ago. It's surprisingly quite good.  Am also reading 'A man of his own' about a dog and it's also well written.  I've got a third one sitting nearby that I want to start as well - The Last Hurrah.

I started painting a few rocks again the other day as I don't want to do any sewing until the fall.  Some turned out better than others but it was kind of fun.

I purchased a couple of cookbooks about going vegan.  I don't intend to go that route but I do intend to try and eat and prepare foods differently.  There's a heck of a lot of good stuff in those books too.

Well, that's it for now.  Having leftovers tonight.  Jenni made chicken enchilladas for the twins' 17th birthday yesterday and she brought me a plate. Yum.  Think I'll have some carrot and celery sticks on the side.  Doesn't that sound exciting?  I know ...but I'm trying to lose weight and that means one day at a time.  I've probably dropped about five so far.  I'm not doing anything in particular. No ice cream or candy or sweets or desserts to speak of.  No bread although I did break down and buy a package of those Orowheat Thins.  I have half of one  toasted and sometimes half of one for an open faced sandwich.

Mainly need to cut down portions and I'm working hard on that.  Eating fruit and trying to find snacks that aren't that bad for you.  Plus chewing gum in my recliner at night. Surprising how that can help you through the pangs of hunger.
