The VERY next night, thieves broke into the house and stole thousands of dollars of tools and car parts (mostly all of Hunter's stuff). Jen was told insurance might cover some of the loss but since they weren't living in the house, their claim was denied. Then.... the cops stopped this truck that a neighbor had described as one he'd seen in the area at the time of the theft. Lo and behold, it was full of stolen property. The cops called Hunter and Wayne to come out to the highway where the guy was pulled over to identify their stuff. Then they had them follow them to this meth camp in the brush out near Joyce.
Wayne described it as a shit hole. Tents, RVs, tarps, garbage, and a table where Hunter said meth was being used. They found more of Hunter's stuff and the guy was arrested with a number of charges. Then our justice system took over and the scumbag had a lot of his charges reduced or dismissed. Because the house wasn't occupied as a residence, it wasn't considered a burglary. Because the total cost of the stuff that was identified wasn't at a certain monetary level, another charge was dismissed. They saw a ton of things at the camp that were obviously stolen but unless they could prove it on the spot, they couldn't confiscate it or arrest anyone.
One girl who obviously didn't want to get charged with a lot of things "spilled her guts" and told where more of Hunter's things were. This morning Hunter stopped by and told me when he went out to the property this morning, he saw some of his stuff under a tree with an apology note. He's since been keeping a lot of his things in my garage since storage units aren't available in the west end right now. Here's a picture of what he found this morning.
A couple days ago Jen and Wayne had their old house and shop completely cleaned out and they signed off on the place. The next day, they got another surprise.
Their property abuts property that Wayne's sister and her husband live on. When they moved in their mobile a few years back, they hooked up to her dad's well but no paperwork was ever written up giving them ownership of it. Now, the sister and her sweet hubby have decided they won't let Jen and Wayne use the well unless they sign over ownership rights to them. Their reasoning being that if Wayne ever sells, other people could use their well. It's all very complicated but yet not.
If Wayne wanted to dig his own well, it could cost as much as $40,000. Not gonna' happen! So....
they've opted to sell the land. They'll take the money and what they got from selling their house and find another place in town that is already built and ready to move in. A better plan all the way around. I always thought living next to Wayne's family might become an issue because of their history with other family members that I've observed over the years. Not a happy ever after story as far as those two go.
Today, Jenni took Sammy over to their rental across town. The landlords decided a small dog was okay so he'll stay there off and one when he's not here with me and Jen. She'll continue to live here until their new residence is found and the paperwork is done.
It was a busy week for me. My sister in NC arrived with her husband, Jack. I posted a lot of photos on Facebook but here's some for those who don't do FB. We went to Hurricane Ridge, the Elwha dam project, Fort Flagler on Marrowstone Island, the beach downtown, and a goodbye dinner at Traylors on the last night. Then they went to Seattle to sightsee and I'm hoping will make it out to Mary's in Renton before they catch their plane home tonight.

Maddie was our waitress at Traylor's and Sue came in before she had to go to work
I think I'm going to take it easy all this week. Might start up some more rock painting and I've got a couple of books I'm anxious to take a look at. Mary is coming up next Friday to spend the day and Jake will stay overnight while she goes to PT to visit friends and attend a party. I'm having Maddie come over too as he doesn't really know me all that well but is more familiar with Maddie.
I've already bought half a dozen toys. Wanted to get him a cap gun with caps. Hunted all over town and finally found them at Bay Variety downtown where they carry a lot of old time toys. Nothing else much on my agenda until Aug. 13th when I hit the Jefferson County Fair. I'm going to man the alumni booth on Sunday morning from 10 to noon and then I'll browse the exhibits.
I donated two large teddy bears for a raffle in our booth this year and we'll be selling my books at a "Fair sale price". I hope. I did sell one this morning so they're still selling a little at a time.
Took a picture of Hunter's large truck tires as he backed into my driveway to unload more stuff. Also pictured is the first hole they've started for the cement foundation on the first house going up across the street. I'll have to find my "before picture" and post it too.

And that's about it for this morning.
