Tuesday morning

Well, what's on my agenda today?  Not much.  I did set up a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle yesterday as I decided I needed to have something to work on.  The last few puzzles I've set up I lost interest in right away and put them back in the box but since I've decided not to sew until the fall, I think maybe I'll stick with this one.  I may make a trip to the beach and pick up a few rocks too as I'd like to keep painting.  Anyhow, the puzzle I chose is a fun one I've done before. I might even opt to frame this it. I often say that but when it comes time to actually put out the effort, framing can be kind of hard. And expensive. But we'll see.
Jenni is going out to their property in an hour to meet some guy about tearing down the old garage/barn structure out there.

At 1 o'clock she'll be taking Sammy to the vet to see if anything can be done about his back.  We think it's "out."  Poor thing can hardly move. I took a picture of him sitting in the yard with no energy to run off the pigeons nearby. (I do hate those pigeons!)
I finished a book yesterday. I guess not having cable tv does allow me the atmosphere to read more. I end up taking a nap half the time I start reading but I've noticed I am getting through books more than I used to.  The western I just finished was 'The True Memoirs of Charley Blankenship' by Ben Capps. Pretty good too.  Now I'm reading 'A Dog of his Own' by Susan Wilson.  I'm enjoying it a lot.  About this puppy adopted from the gutter by this guy and then the guy goes to war (WWII) and his wife ends up (reluctantly, cause she loves him too) putting the dog in the kennel corp. Another guy (who has had a bad life) is his trainer and that's as far as I've gotten. Well written.

My grandson, Hunter, cut his hand at work yesterday. Just missed a tendon. Jenni took him to the ER.
He works at this trucking outfit out on the highway that does road construction. He's a worker in the shop doing everything from cleaning the trucks to computer work.  Makes a nice wage too. So proud of him.

I went out to water my flowers this morning and took a hose to the pigeons who continued to eat my bird seed as if I wasn't there.  I don't mind any birds coming in EXCEPT pigeons.  Reminded me of when Jake was here over the weekend.  I told him to go out and chase off those pigeons when they landed.  All birds scatter EXCEPT pigeons when you come onto the porch.  Anyhow, they didn't take off as he stood on the deck yelling at them.  He yelled louder and louder (screaming at one point) and I told him they don't care how loud you get, you have to go right out there and shoo them off.  He was a little intimidated by birds who wouldn't fly away at his screaming. Told me he was pretty sure they would bite him.  I tried to assure him that wasn't the case but he refused to get closer.  I had to laugh at he stood on the porch and decided he'd trying spitting at them. Course his spit just hit the front of his shirt but he tried over and over again to spit across the yard.  ha ha

Granddaughter Maddie is at cross country camp at Fort Flagler this week.  That sounds like fun.  Well, fun if you're a teenager. Not fun if you're my age.

My neighbor next door got a $25 gift card to Starbucks from the construction crewboss across the street. She noticed two of their onsite buildings were left with the doors open so she closed them and notified them of the oversight.

Am heading to the casino tomorrow morning. My daughter, Mary, is going on a Caribbean cruise with some of her friends this weekend.  They recently had a combined 50th birthday party at Adelma Beach.  So hard to believe these ladies are at the 50-yr mark. I still think of them as teenagers sometimes.

Well, I guess that's it for today.  I tried again this morning to see if I could get my tape to computer gadget to work for me but I'm missing something. I wrote to the company to ask what I could be doing wrong.  I know how to use the program as I've transferred all my LPs onto my hard drive years ago but some extension they said I had to download (and I did) isn't being recognized.  I'm not giving up though. I've got over 200 tapes to work with over the next few months and I'm determined to save that music!
