Gray Skies Still

Like most people, I'm anxious for winter to be over and done with.  No rain or wind outside but it's mighty gray and looks like it could pour any minute.  Sammy is visiting me today while Jen sees her neurologist in Poulsbo.  My plan is (if I can get myself off my butt) is to take the dog for a short walk. Heaven knows my body needs it. Been terribly lax in exercising this winter.  Nothing new there.  I admit it openly.  I'm not a fan of exercise.  And it shows, of course.

Since I have leftover meatloaf for dinner, I don't have to put any effort into making supper later on. Plan on working on tying the latest quilt I've put together.  Got a jellyroll kit for Christmas and plan on giving it to Maddie for her birthday this summer so she can take it to college next fall.  College.  Gees, seems like not that long ago that they were starting first grade. Time flies.

I've got another sewing project I want to start today too.  A new way to make quilt squares that looks super easy and fun. (Saw it on Darlene Michard's Youtube channel) My sewing room is where Sammy sleeps.  It's pretty cozy in there. Two small tvs. One that has a roku device plugged in so I can have a variety of stuff to watch.  The other is a small set with a built-in VCR so I can play  various old movies as I sew.  Need to hit some pawn shops, I think, as I'm running out of movies to watch.  I've found that I can't just put any old thing in the VCR. If it's a really good action flick, I get distracted.  I've got two movies sitting in there now that I may watch on my other VCR in bed. Waterworld and The Rock. I've seen them both, of course, but once they started playing, I really got into them again and got sidetracked from sewing.

I did watch the superbowl on Sunday but I was disappointed in YoutubeTV that I signed up for.  Three times it froze and one of the freezes was the last two minutes of the game (which I didn't get to see!)  Felt like sticking my foot through the set.  I don't know if it was my cable company internet service (probably was) or if it was YoutubeTV's service.  At any rate, I cancelled my subscription immediately after the game.  I was on a free trial anyway so it didn't cost me anything.  Unfortunately, the other channel (Sling TV)  I subscribed to didn't have a free trial period (like I originally thought) and I'll get charged $20 for it. I cancelled it within the hour and even emailed to tell them so but they didn't care. Told me they cancelled my subscription but I could continue to watch until March 1st and they weren't returning my money. My fault. I should have paid more attention.  I looked over Sling's lineup and didn't really see anything to get excited about.  I am hoping I can find a way to watch the Oscars on March 4th.

Another channel I signed up for was British TV (Acorn)  Totally enjoying that!  Everything I've watched so far has suit me to a T.  Here's a cute picture I saw on Facebook that my cousin, Ilene, posted on Superbowl day.
It certainly was an exciting game. First football I've watched in a long time. Did not care for the halftime entertainment, however.  I like Justin Timberlake but his prancing around with everyone else wasn't my cup of tea. Bored me to tears.

I've been trying to NOT order things on Amazon but every now and then, I decide it's time to start in again.  Yesterday, I finally broke down and bought a better can opener. I've been putting up with my Walmart opener that never did work that well and I can hardly wait for something better to arrive.  I got a new potato peeler last year from my daughter, Mary, and I'm amazed that I put up with my old peelers as long as I did. What a difference.

Well, time to clear the kitchen table and get to work on my quilt.  Only going to work for a couple hours and then I might switch to my jigsaw puzzle. (New York City)  Sorry this is so terribly boring but this is my life inside the house during the winter months.
