Gees! Bad Joyce. Been 19 days since I blogged. Got up and did all my usual morning chores and sat down at the computer to surf my favorite spots and clean up my files and pictures before I head to the sewing room. I post on Facebook every now and again so most of this that I share today will be old news to those who log on to FB like I do. Anyhow, I'll ramble on about this and that. And it will definitely be a ramble as I struggle to find anything of interest around here.
I'll start with what I view as I sit here at my laptop at the kitchen table. I'm right next to the sliding glass door that goes onto the deck and it allows me to watch the birds that come in to visit. I missed watching them so I hung a bird feeder near the porch (I wasn't going to but changed my mind) and now they come in regularly even though the feeder is kind of close to the house. Lots of little birds seem to hang out on the lawn, looking for worms I guess. Probably realize that dogs, cats, and kids don't live here. Saw my first goldfinch this morning but my picture isn't that great. I'll be on the lookout for them now. A hummingbird came in too. (told you this would be lame)
I took a picture of the trees in my yard that are blooming proving that spring is here. Also took one of the neighbor's cherry blossoms and you can see another tree over a roof in the distance. My neighbor erected a large tree limb in his yard and they hang multiple feeders. Interesting to watch.
Maddie posted a picture on her FB page today so thought I would share that too -- along with a couple of newspaper clippings I kept on her track meet results. She's going to Central in Ellensburg come September.
She was picked at student of the month by the Rotary Club a couple weeks or so back.
Her brother, Hunter, recently competed in a automotive repair contest for Universal Tech Institute and came in Second in the State. He was offered a scholarship to attend their college in Phoenix so he's going to tour it in the near future. He came by yesterday with his girl friend to bring me some things he found at a nearby estate sale that he thought I could use.
My other grandson, Jacob, is visiting Leavenworth this weekend as his folks celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary.
Went around the house with my camera taking pictures to add today because I don't have a heck of a lot otherwise. Cleaned up my refrigerator door a bit by taking down some magnet and adding new pictures (including Hunter and Maddie's graduation shots)
I bought 3 lbs of hamburger yesterday and took the time this morning to make the whole thing into 18 patties for the freezer. I do love hamburgers and I figure they cost me about 74 cents a piece this way. Helps dissuade me from running off to McDonalds when I really want a burger!
Have a jigsaw puzzle going in the kitchen and quilt projects in the works in the sewing room. I cut up A TON of material I had on hand into 3, 4, and 5" squares. Now I'm getting them all sewed together. At one time I had almost a dozen small quilts set aside in the back room. (keeps me off the street)
My friend, Mary Gaboury, was taken to Vegas by her daughter to celebrate her 75th birthday. Saw this picture on FB. So cute.
I wrote a blog on the Leader recently about my latest Facebook pages featuring pictures of Port Townsend on the one called "Port Townsend, WA" and old photos on the page called "Jefferson County Wash of Yesterday." The blog had to do with comments received on the San Juan Grocery Store in PT. Interesting.
The houses across the street from me continue to be worked on daily. The one directly across from my driveway, however, is kind of an ugly pea green color unlike the others (at least so far) that have more muted colors. Oh well, I guess it will grow on me over time.
I changed the desktop picture on my computer recently. Always enjoy looking at my old childhood home and how it looks today. Fascinates me.
Haven't heard back from the cops yet on whether or not they've talked to my purse snatcher. I drove up there last week just to see if her car was still there. It was. Think I'm going to have to email my cop again. Little snot! I'm always on the lookout for her now.
Watched 'The Post' with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks last night. Liked it. Haven't especially cared for any of the oscar nominees this year but I did like Three Billboards, Mudbound, and Get Out. I've still got 'Phantom Thread' to watch and 'All the money in the world.' Have been revisiting shows on Netflix and Amazon that I've watched before and it was easy to get involved with them all over again. Nurse Jackie, Mad Men, Better Call Saul, and Breaking Bad. I searched Amazon and did find quite a few old tv shows that I could put in my queue and test out. Some I never watched when they first came out -- like Dynasty.
Well, here it is noon time already. Guess I'll fix a quick lunch and get busy in the sewing room. Am heading to the Oregon coast next week for a couple days of sightseeing and shopping in the Cannon Beach area. Been a while since I've been out of state (like YEARS!) It's time. And with that....here's a picture of something I wish I had in the house but it's just as well I don't.
