First Monday of June

Drove into Port Townsend yesterday for the memorial service at the Elks Club for Dave Marriott.  Rained both ways but I had an audio book by J.A. Jance to listen to. Which reminded me of Dave.  Years ago I was reading one of her books (she writes about Seattle places) and she mentioned Galer Street on Queen Ann Hill.  I promptly emailed Dave to tell him that his street was mentioned in a book.  He says: Oh yeah, I've known her for years. Her son used to be in the scout troop I was the leader of.

I should have known.  Dave knew everyone. His Seattle funeral was packed with over 500 people. I was sure glad they had something locally too. Pictures below.....  I didn't know everyone but will try to ID some.

I got home about 4 in the afternoon and pretty much crashed the rest of the day. Went to bed at 9 or 10? and got to sleep until 2:30 when the damn hip bursitis kicked in and sent me to the recliner until 6:30 a.m.  It woke me up again (howling like a injured cat!) so I got up and started stumbling around even though I was still tired and wanted to sleep.  This whole routine is getting on my nerves.  Usually, the pain lets up once I'm on my feet but today it had other plans and stayed with me. Figured I'd probably better make a doctor appt and see if a cortisone shot would help.

Much to my dismay, the P.A. that I've been going to for FIVE YEARS is now unavailable to me because my regular doctor (who it's difficult to get in to see because she's so busy) has moved to another building.  I often made an appt with the P.A. who I could get in to faster.  I didn't understand at first that I can't see my regular P.A. anymore because she's associated with a different doctor and that doctor isn't taking new patients. I'm not new to the P.A. for crying out loud!  The woman on the phone taking appts was a real snot.  And yelled 'MAAM!' at me when I persisted and wanted to know why I couldn't see someone I'd been seeing for years.  I came close to yelling right back at her but I held my tongue.  There wasn't any excuse for that tone of voice she used.  Next time I just might have to tell her so!

My patience level with the medical community has gone down the toilet ever since I used to take my dad to the ER or the doctor.  I also had a horrible experience with a local surgeon who was a bat from hell!  She's left town now and good riddance!  Anyhow, I'll ask my doc about the shot and see what I can take for the arthritis in my thumb that now seems to be ever present.  God, but I hate getting old!  I'll also find out just what it means that my platelet count continues to go down. I suspect it might be tied to why I've been so damn tired for months.  I googled it and it said I have
thrombocytopenia.  Sigh....  It just never ends.  Oh well, I gotta' die of something. Might as well make it something I can't pronounce.

I took a little nap today but forced myself out from under the electric throw to get some sewing done.  I have a few pieces of quilt squares of various sizes that I'm going to experiment around with and make pot holders, table runners, table tops, and maybe a small blanket.

Saw Hunter's picture in the paper yesterday for coming in 2nd in the state competition in Yakima for Skills USA.  His category was collision repair and I think he's going to college in Phoenix in the fall. Got a scholarship. He's on the far right.

Maddie stopped in after her half marathon race yesterday. Jen posted her picture on Facebook. Her and her two friends came in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

Catie, meanwhile, was busy manning her booth at the Kent open market.  It'll run through the summer. She sold about $100 worth the first day.

And grandson, Jake, was participating in the Loop the Lupe run in West Seattle, Mary said it about killed her to run ahead and keep up with him and Andy so she could get photos. Ha Ha

He was so proud of his ribbon!

Mary spent yesterday with "her ole gang of girl friends" as they celebrated her birthday.

And I think that does it for now. Gonna heat up some leftover soup for dinner and have a salad. Boring, I know.  Wednesday is dentist and doctor back to back and then Saturday is alumni at the Elks Club.

Just noticed my foxglove flowers through the window. So pretty. And my flamingos moved over to the raised beds so Sue can mow tomorrow. hee hee

Got a call from my cousin, Linda, in KY, today. She's home from the hospital but very very weak. Home health nurse is coming to visit her today. Pneumonia and sadly, a stroke.  Depressing.

And with that, I'm off to fix supper.  Oh...and I didn't proofread this. Too lazy so sorry if there are typos.
