While looking for something yesterday, I came across this
picture of my brother, Dana, and my cousin Claude Walker’s wife, Lorraine. Taken at my rental house on Rose Street in Port
Townsend. I’m thinking 1989 because of the baby bottle on the table by Dana. On the other hand, why hadn’t I changed the
calendar on the wall? Catie was born May 31st in Puyallup and didn’t
come to stay with me until June so perhaps this is 1990. Looking over the picture, I see only a few
things still in my possession. Two
little antique rubber cars on the window sill, two little antique spice cans on
the kitchen queen cupboard, a green Avon hand cream jar shaped like celery, an
old sugar bowl that was my grandmother’s, and a blue pillow my sister made me
on the floor. The cupboard is at Jenni’s house now along with an antique jar on
top. Don’t have the scanner barely showing behind Dana’s head and don’t have
the air filter machine beside him. I still smoked then. I think that counted cross stitch project
near the pillow is something I eventually framed and gave to Jenni. Maybe
Mary. That round black thing on the
table might be one of those ashtrays that were called “smokeless”. I remember
that couch. Had a matching loveseat and we had it in our house on 20th
& San Juan. Bought it from Hugh
Lytle when he had a furniture store downtown. And that recliner was one the
kids bought me. What a surprise that was. Always fun to look back at old
pictures.
