Just stuck a real small pork roast in the oven. Lathered it up with barbeque sauce and hopefully, in a couple hours, I'll have a tasty little dinner. Leftover mashed potatoes and peas too. Pulled out a few cookbooks and intend to look over recipes. Need to perk up menus around here.
Slept in my bed (on the foam) until 5 am and then transferred to the recliner until 7. I've had a heck of a time these past weeks sleeping through the night because of my hip. Just dealing with it for now. Decided I would go for a walk (using both my walking sticks) and drove the four miles down to the beach. Not that I walked on the beach; just near the beach. It started to rain so I only stayed out 15 minutes but at least that was something.
You can barely see her (unless you zoom in on the picture) but there's a wild cat right under this board having breakfast. Somebody sets out fresh water and food.
I came home and sat down at my jigsaw puzzle. It's a 750-piece and I'm really enjoying it. Not easy but not hard. Kittens on a puzzle. Should be able to finish it off tomorrow.
Got a picture in an email yesterday of Jake on the plane. They're home now. He travels so much, he's an old hat at it now.
And Catie is back from Florida too. She opened up her booth at the Kent Market this morning.
Rose Johnson sent me a couple photos she took while out on her walk of Grant Street School coming down.
I took a couple pictures of the latest work on the houses across the street. They're putting in lawns now.
I went over to talk to the women and one gave me a tour inside. Three bedrooms and one bath. Bedrooms have carpeting. The two-story directly across from me has five bedrooms and two bathrooms. They have seven kids and they hope to move in at the end of July. I asked about why two had asphalt and the other driveways were concrete. She said a contractor donated to do two homes free and they drew straws to see who would get them. They'll all still have mortgages.
Have been listening to a new radio station. Used to be KMPS 94.1 fm but now it's The Sound. I like their selections but I do notice (like all stations) they have a limited collection. You notice it more when you have the radio on all day.
Susan came by and cut my lawn yesterday. Always so nice to see the dandelions gone. At least for a little while. I notice my crocosmia is starting to bloom now. I have quite a few pots of it plus some in the front so the hummingbirds will be happy.
I've been cutting all my material that has flowers or plants on it into 6" squares. What a job. I have so much, though, that I'm only cutting SOME of the material. I can always use the rest for other projects. I'll probably put white squares in between each flower pattern. Curious to see just how this will look.
I'm managing to make little messy piles here and there but then I guess that's what sewing rooms are for.
I've got about 3 or 4 bins full in this room and then the back bedroom is my real stash area where it's especially apparent that I like to sew.
I've been watching Survivorman on Amazon Prime these past couple weeks or so. Going to hate it when I'm done with season 7. Interesting guy. I've learned a heck of a lot too. I looked him up online and he's worth $5 million now.
Nothing much planned for the 4th of July. Used to be we'd always go on a picnic but that seems a million years ago. I wonder if I can talk Wayne and Jenni into firing up their grill. At some point this summer (maybe this month even) Ann Robson in Issaquah is driving over to spend a night or two with me. I'll drive us into Port Townsend so we can take pictures and sightsee. Hope to hit North Beach and look for treasures too.
Next Tuesday marks three years since my pal, Susie Bara, passed away. Miss her all the time. Lost way too many friends these past few years.
Been putting old movies on in the sewing room while I cut out squares. Kind of fun to see those you haven't watched in years. Like Ghost, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Vertigo, West Side Story, Philadelphia, Urban Cowboy, and Follow the River.
Been reading my brother's book off and on too. Problem is reading puts me to sleep these days. Irritating as hell! But then everything makes me tired. I'll get it done this week, I think. It's really good! --CRAVENSTONE 2 -- TIME WHISPERERS.
