Making America Great & Bingo

I was reminded again last night how much you can change over time. Not just in appearance or energy levels but how you think about certain subjects and how your opinions can do a complete reversal. I’m a lot more lenient on a few topics.  Kind of like live and let live.  The passing of time has caused me to evaluate what is important and what I find is too boring to waste any thought on.  I’ve found, for example, that I’m considerably more particular on what I’ll watch on television.  I gave up cable tv because I was fed up with the cable company raising their prices every year while what we had to choose from was mostly junk.  Not just repeats or commercials but the substance of tv personalities and how the story lines became more immature and flat year after year.  This has probably more to do with me being older than anything else because I can remember a time when I watched everything avidly and loved it all.  Today my kids watch a lot of things I’d never waste my time on – and vice versa.
On the flip side of that, however, is that the opinions I do cling to have been become more steadfast.  Like the clown we now have as President.  I’ve always been interested in politics to some degree, but never to the extent that I became so outraged, I had to switch the channel on the television or radio the minute “our leader” had air time.  And air time is his favorite time apparently.  Not caring for a politician in office is nothing new.  My dad was always disgusted with Bush and never hesitated to say so, but I do wonder if he was alive today how he would feel about Trump.  I couldn’t say for sure that he would support him but because of certain views I remember him having, I half suspect he’d think he’s okay.  I hope I’m wrong but everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.
This is the first time in my life that I recall ever looking at those folks who support a politician in office and thinking – are they really that clueless?  Normally, I’d never give a second thought to who liked a different candidate than I did. Not this time, though.  Watching and listening to the leader of our country reminds me of the old time westerns where you rooted for the good guys but had to wait until the end of the movie to see the black hats finally get what was coming to them.
As I read back over what I’ve written today, I have to chuckle because lambasting Trump was not what I had planned on doing.  More than once, I’ve gotten off the track once I started pounding keys and found myself getting hot under the collar about our President.  I was going to write about how I went to bingo last night and found it totally boring.  I doubt I’ll ever go again; at least not to the casino to play. Too noisy, too slow moving, too smokey, too expensive, and too uncomfortable.  I was a hard core bingo player for decades and never thought I would find it not to my liking.
But then you wouldn’t believe what I now find interesting on Netflix and Amazon. Documentaries, surviving in the wild, nature shows, and just about any reruns from the fifties and sixties. I guess I’ve come full circle.

Here's a small portion of things that make me laugh these days.....
