My Day Trip into Port Townsend

Gees, where did my morning go?  I've been working steadily on editing the pictures that I took yesterday and matching them up with older ones in my collection.  Always a fun chore for me.  I keep getting sidetracked this morning, however.  My camera zoom feature quit working on me yesterday and since I play with that camera on a daily basis, I was not pleased.  I read my camera booklet online and finally found an email address to ask a question.  Wasn't expecting much as I know I didn't register the camera and I couldn't remember when I bought it or where. I think Walmart, though. Anyhow, I got a prompt email back this morning telling me something to try so I'm going to mess around with that later.  If it doesn't work, I may have to shop around for another camera.  The fee for just mailing the camera to the repair shop is $80!  Good grief.  I'm pretty sure I paid under $200 for it, and the $80 is just for starters.  I went out to the garage to dig around in several boxes I've been meaning to sort through and figure out what to do with. Came across at least 4 cameras so I'll monkey with them all later throughout this week to see if any will suit my purpose. At least one of them will probably be fine, and I've always got my cell phone camera. As it is, I never could figure out all the features of my latest camera no matter how many times I read the booklet.  Just don't have the knowledge of the terminology and it was too frustrating to teach myself. I'm a poor student of being home schooled.  Ha!

Anyhow, back to my photo journey. I might end up being "all over the place" but I did try to sort them into separate files so I can sorta stay on track.  I picked up my oldest daughter, Susan, at 8 a.m. sharp.  She was still in bed so it was a good thing for her that I had stopped at McDonalds for an egg mcmuffin and could sit in the car having breakfast while I waited for her to get ready.  I knew I wanted to make several photo stops all over town before we hit the county fair.  I thought it would only take about an hour but it took me two hours as we got sidetracked here and there.

There was a big rummage sale going on at the Masonic Hall so we stopped there to browse.  They had a ton of stuff!  I bought a new white t-shirt with "T. Paine" on it. Tom Paine?  I don't know but it's colorful (red, white and blue) and it fits.  I also picked up a wallet and a toy for my grandson when he visits next month. Sue bought a purse and some wood spoons.
While sitting in the car afterwards waiting on Sue, I met this fellow shopper who I parked next to me. Friendly guy from Clallam Bay.  Interesting too.  Guitar player who went to an outdoor concert in the 1970s (California) and saw Dylan, The Stones, Neil Young, and several others over three nights.  I ended up giving him a painted rock and one of my books that I had been carrying around in the back of the car.

I always like to look over the changes downtown. Some I like; others don't excite me that much. Parking spaces continue to disappear as shown by this new little park on Tyler Street.

When we left the fair, we opted to stop at McDonalds for a quick burger and fries.
Last time I went through the drive-thru, the service was super slow. So slow I complained when I finally got to the window.  The kid waiting on me was smart mouthed and obviously didn't care one bit!  I decided to bypass the drive-thru and walk in this time. Cars were already lined up.  When I ordered a rootbeer for Susan and me (you dispense it yourself) I noticed immediately that the pop was almost all water. Very noticable and when I took a drink, I was really ticked off. It tasted awful and nothing like rootbeer.  I won't frequent that place again.

Not sure when McDonalds came to town. I spent a lot of time online researching that and never could find a date. One place said 1992 but I don't think that was right as my son worked there when they opened and he was still in high school in 1989.  One thing that caught my attention in the parking lot was a sign designating our changing times.

This little car (1963?) was parked next to me. Really pretty.

My Safeway picture was pretty much like the last one I took a few years ago although this time,  I had a homeless guy sitting on the curb with a sign asking for  money. Sue gave him some.
(these pictures are showing up so small on my blog but if you click on each one, they will enlarge. I purposely shrunk them down before hand.)

Other pictures I took in no particular order.....

I know a lot of these photos are duplicates of others I've shown from time to time but this is what I do...

Looked like this!  Huge difference, wouldn't you say?
The road leading up to the house used to open (yet steep). Now's it's even narrower and has houses built all around it.

we had an unobstructed view of the Lincoln field when we lived there. Notice the road winding up with no trees

old fair photos:

People I saw yesterday:
 Susan in the Chetzemoka swing
Ariel, daughter of Carol Judy, niece of Rick Judy who I went to school with
Former neighbor, Tom House. I had stopped in to say hello to his wife, Karen, who was in my class. She's dealing with health issues.  They have the cutest little dog ever!

me and Rita Hubbard at the mill booth

the Hinkley sisters at the alumni booth
Kay Dudleston (maiden name) and her husband,John?  I forget.
Heading into Chetzemoka but not running down the path like I used to do in younger years. Huffed and puffed my way back to the car using a walking stick. Life sure flew by.

The ride home was a scary one. I had to pull over twice because I couldn't see a thing and the wipers were going at their highest speed. Other drivers were also pulling over. We stopped at the casino (planned on spending $10 and leaving) but drove around and around and  couldn't find parking that wasn't miles away.  Beer festival going on in the back parking lot and you wouldn't believe the crowds.  That casino is not hurting for money, I suspect.  I certainly help them enough. ha ha

Well, I should go back and reread this for typos but this little project took me hours and I'm TIRED!  Kept getting sidetracked looking at other things.  Going to relax the rest of the day and DO NOTHING!  Tomorrow I'll fast again because I was bad, bad, bad yesterday.

My, but this was a long and chatty blog today.
