One of my gifts was a new laptop. Boy, did I need it too. I've spent the morning downloading photos from my phone and two cameras and then playing around with the new photo program I need to learn. I'll attach what pictures I saved here although I've already put some up on Facebook. I definitely made out like a bandit this year. Besides the laptop, my new goodies included:
75 cookies from Jen (rolls of dough for the freezer so I can bake at Christmas or whenever for cookie gifts), 75 postage stamps from Jen (so maybe I'll send out a few Xmas cards this year.) She also got me this gadget that you attach a small can of propane to one end and the other end you hold over your icy driveway in winter to melt the ice. Much easier than rock salt. Ha Ha
Catie gave me a gift card to the company she now works for --Thriftbooks.com. I'm going to write a blog for their website about what books I've enjoyed over the 7 decades of my life. I love writing assignments. She also gave me a water glass with lid from her company. Ironically, I'd been thinking I wanted to get something I could put ice in and have in my car as I've become disenchanted with plastic water bottles. She has a page on Etsy where she sells her jewelry. Check it out. WEINRIDGE.
She went to Grenada (Christmas time I think?) to visit her sister and she collected sand and shells to use in crafts. I got this neat keychain.
Susan gave me a Hit 5 ticket for twenty draws. (My gambling game of choice these days) Sure was happy to have it as my old ticket had expired and I hadn't gotten around to purchasing another. Here's hoping I win. Almost hit it a few months back and it would have paid $300,000+. Woo Hooooo!
I got a real neat 1000-pc jigsaw puzzle from Jake. Looking forward to setting it up as winter rolls in. Also received this cool yard decoration which I set up out front. Can't wait for the wind to blow. ha ha I had almost bought this particular windmill for myself. So cute.
I pulled out an old Cootie game I had in the garage and Jake and I played around with it a bit. He wanted to make up his own rules when I told him he could only get one leg at a time when he threw a six. He thought it would be better if he got four legs if he threw a four.
Here's a picture of Jake helping me blow out candles at my 74th birthday and again this weekend on my 75th.
This next photo was taken Sunday morning as I was getting lessons on my new computer. Amazing to watch Mary and Catie scoot around fixing this and that. Mary downloaded Word for me as I use that a lot and Catie set me up with some game websites.
Our breakfast early Sunday morning was at the motel where Mary and Andy stayed. A nice place called The Whistling Frog.Jenni ordered a yogurt parfait which was quite colorful.
Jake had a pancake.
Here's Andy and Jake outside playing with a cap gun I had put away in the garage.
We went down to Ediz Hook to look for a few flat rocks I could paint in the months to come. Jake was delighted finding a hole he could shove his stick in.
Here's a couple quarts of stewed tomatoes that my friend, Ann, sent over. She lives not too far from Mary. She also gave me some really neat material I'm looking forward to using up, and this neat "grabber" that has a little light on the end and extends out. The magnet on the end picks up dropped metal items like pins and needles. Love it!
And that's about it for now. I'm going to clean up my old laptop today by moving various things I have saved on discs to my external hard drive gadget. Catie tells me discs are old fashioned now. Gonna' play around in the sewing room later today. Gotta keep busy as this is a fasting day.
