Election Day

Man, am I glad the election hoo haw is about over.  I don't see the ads on tv anymore since I don't have cable service but it's in your face on Facebook and other places online.  And the signs all over the countryside are a nuisance too.  I did vote a week or two ago by mail. Wanted to make sure that Susan Hutchison didn't get elected state senator. Mainly because she likes Trump from what I read.

I'm on the last season of The Americans on Amazon Prime. At least I think it's the last season. I heard the finale was in the works for a long time. I can hardly wait. I'm glad I'll be looking for something else. Definitely hooked on the storyline and the characters but the teenage daughter is giving me a royal pain and I often end up putting her dialogue on mute.  And yes, I know exactly how crotchety I sound.  Keri Russell, the female lead is also getting on my nerves. She kills too many people and I'm cussing her out quite frequently as the show comes to an end.  I'm still intrigued with The Incredible Dr. Pol on Hulu, though.  That show is very entertaining although I wonder just how long you can watch a guy shove his arm up hundreds of cows' butts to see if they're pregnant. ha ha

Had a minor disaster around here over the weekend.  I "thought" Sammy had peed and after cleaning it up, I couldn't understand why it wasn't getting dry.  At first I  thought I had used too much water to clean but eventually, I discovered other wet carpet area and a swollen tile area near the fridge. Uh oh.
The neighbor came over and pulled out the fridge and turned off the hose that gives water from the sink and makes ice cubes.  My son-in-law came over later and went under the house. He felt the damage might require a contractor.  Uh oh.

I called a plumber but they wanted $240 an hour to come out on a Sunday.  Since I figure that leak has been going on for who knows how long, I opted to wait until the following day when it would be
$96 an hour. Uh oh.   He was a nice guy. Young kid really. They're all young nowadays. He went under the house and felt the damage was minor and wouldn't require a contractor.  He couldn't fix the fridge so I had to call a repairman for that.  It's not leaking now but I can't use the water spigot or make ice cubes.  After talking for a half hour to somebody in Las Vegas who didn't speak English that well and wanted me to buy a warranty, I finally got an appt for next Monday.  Apparently water damage is quite common and I suppose I should be thankful nothing happened for ten years.  Hard to believe I've been here that long but then I retired 16 years ago.

I'm continuing physical therapy for my shoulder. Think my last appt is Dec. 6th. It is helping.  After my appt today I headed to Walmart to pick up a prescription and buy a few items. Got a new crockpot which I've been needing for some time.  Already have dinner cooking away.  Noticed when I got home the clerk charged me for two orange juices instead of one so now I'll have to go back and get my money back. It's only $2.58 but still......

I went to the library after WM and picked up three audio books. Two my Stephen King. I've been listening to Carrie (narrated by Sissy Spacek) and it way different than the movie. Really good. I also picked up a biography on Johnny Cash and a book of mysteries.  When I pulled into my parking spot I noticed this woman in front of me tying a large plastic bin to the top of her car.  When I came out a half hour later, she was still working on it. Obviously homeless. All the windows were blocked up with moldy cardboard. Sad.  I took her picture (but she didn't see me do it).
Leaving the parking lot, I was driving along and noticed this bearded  man walking along in a tattered old dress. I assume he was homeless too.  I just can't imagine such a life. Depressing.

Well, I see one of my hummingbird feeders fell over.Guess I'll go clean it up and add fresh juice.
