Well, it's been about two weeks now that I've been putting up with this hip/low back issues. Thought for sure it would have cleared up by now. I hope it's not an indication of how it's going to be. It does take some adjustment leaving the house with a cane and I'm not very good at it. I'm tempted to take off the soft foam mattress topper I have on my bed to see if sleeping on something hard would help but I've done that so many times with no success that I hesitate to even bother trying again. Not to mention, it's way more comfortable using the foam mattress. I sleep better. I guess I'm just going to have to wait it out and see if things improve with time. Patience isn't my strong suit, however, so I'm fighting depression more often as I can't do the things I want to do. On the other hand, I know I should be thankful I'm not in pain IF I do use that cane and I'm fine with sitting. Now that I think about it, my grandpa used a walking stick and cane too.
Hunter's girl friend, Haley, is coming by in a couple hours to do some physical chores for me. I did manage to sweep and mop the kitchen and I'm getting the dishes and laundry done so all is not lost. I'm going to use her to do some moving of things I don't dare try to lift. I went to Safeway around noon as I didn't have any ice cream in the house. Priorities you know. Remind me not to go at lunch time again. I can hold on to the cart okay but it's very slow going and I do better if I have a cane. I couldn't manage the cart and the cane, though, so I trudged along as best I could. I've given myself until the end of May to heal. If I'm still suffering, it's back to the doctor to plead for another cortisone shot. I'm pretty sure I don't need a hip replacement because it doesn't hurt where it indicates a new hip is needed. Mine is on the outside and low back. Oh woe is me!
Got an interesting phone call a couple hours back. This guy at Lewis & Clark College in Oregon is doing research for the archives and saw one of my old blogs on a relative I was researching when I was deep into ancestry digging. This particular relative was especially interesting to me and this guy wanted more info and pictures on her as he was working on her husband that she married and divorced and while he had quite a bit on the guy and his second wife, he had next to nothing on Inez.
I tried sending him photos and notes but the email address he gave me didn't work so I'll have to wait until I hear back from him. It did make me want to get back into genealogy research again. I need a project.
I've been spending at least two or three hours a day in the sewing room trying to use up odds and ends of material pieces. I have a ton of it! I made one table runner, one table top, and tomorrow I will put batting with this twin size quilt top I finished up. At least that's the plan. It's hard to work standing up and leaning over a table and having a bad hip/back in the mix will only make things worse. But we'll see how it goes. I'm hoping I can stand/sit/stand/sit through the bulk of it. I've been making little quilt squares of various designs as they're easy to work on at the machine and I can just putter away while watching tv.
I tuned in 'Call the Midwives' on PBS last night but was kind of disappointed. For one thing, I couldn't understand half the dialog with the English accents. I never had that problem with the other seasons. Last night's show was kind of boring but I did come across this other program called Mrs. Wilson. It was pretty good and I'll tune it back in tonight for the next episode.
My gall bladder stitches are still bothering me a bit. I suppose that's normal. Mainly the one by my bellybutton. I go back in three weeks for a followup. I have managed to lose a little weight this week. Not sure why my appetite has been off but I'm not gonna' lose any sleep over it.
I sent Jake an Easter present yesterday. Told Mary that he can open it when it arrives or she can put it away for two weeks. She said she's gonna let him open early as he loves getting packages. I'm not real sure how it works but there are four large eggs with dinosaurs inside.
Yesterday I pretty much loafed and sat around watching golf all afternoon. I wish I could get the Mariners games but sometimes they're blacked out on the channel that has baseball games. I never used to care that much for baseball but I started watching and am finding I kind of like it. Well, that's about all I got today. Not much to talk about when you don't leave the house unless you have to.
