Now that I've cleaned out my house and downsized to the max, my list of to-do chores grows smaller each day. I had only two things on the list today and they were done fairly quickly. One of my mistakes in downsizing too quickly (and I knew this would happen) is that I donated some books to the library that I shouldn't have. Funny thing is, I hesitated on those four little paperbacks at the time and decided I'd just read the library copies as surely they'd have those. Am I repeating myself? Guess I better go look at my last couple blogs to check. Be right back.
Well, I couldn't find reference to it but I'm at the age where I'm pretty much going to repeat myself a lot of the time anyhow. I saw this movie on Turner Classics last week called The New Land. Starred Max von Sydow and while I'd seen it before (it was dubbed in English) I remember it as a favorite so I watched it again. Loved it so much that I went looking for the book the movie was based on. (one of the four I gave away) Sigh.... Anyhow, I went to the library this morning to see if there was any chance I could look through all the books that are donated to them to use in their book sales. Their latest sale of "fill a bag for $3" had just completed so if the books had been set out, chances are someone bought them. Or not. They were old and ratty looking. With no success at the library (they don't carry any of the books) I went down to the used book store downtown to see if they had them. Nope. And to order just one of them was $26. No. Not doing that. All the places I looked didn't have the books or they were too expensive. I guess I didn't know I had a treasure at the time. I did find the entire set of four on ebay so I bought them. $23 but I wasn't going to have any peace until they were mine again. I can't tell from the ad if they're hardback or paperback so I'll be surprised when they show up around Sept. 5. The Emigrants, The Settlers, Last Letter Home, and Unto a good land.
The other thing on my chore list was to sort through my photos on line to keep them filed and in the folders I want them in so I can find them again. I'm forever saving pictures I see on Facebook or other places so I have to make sure I stay ahead of the game. Always fun for me to go back and see what's there.
I've got four small tables and one table (all free) listed in the PA paper today and tomorrow as they are just sitting in the garage taking up space. One lady came by but she wanted real wood so she could sand it. Sooner or later I suppose somebody will realize they need a table. Decided I needed to clean out the fridge at bit so dinner tonight will be ground turkey fried up with zuchinni, onions, and carrots.
Intend to hit the recliner in a few minutes to get back to a book that is finally holding my interest.
Shelter by Frances Greenslade. Tried to watch the Seahawks last night but one of the commentators got on my nerves too much. Found a show on Netflix that looks promising. MindHunter.
Been watching a fence being erected at the green house across the street today. A wire see-through one.
One of the neatest pictures I saw on Facebook this week was posted by my son-in-law. Shows the high school cross country team in Santa Barbara taking shelter dogs out for a run when they did their run. Love that.
Also saw the carrots Andy and Jake planted this year in their back yard.
And off I go to the recliner now. Something tells me I may not get too many pages read as I think I'm close to nap time. Ha!
