Ever had a bladder and/or UTI infection? Oh, they're so delightful. I went to Urgent Care early Sunday morning, Sept. 29th, as I knew exactly what was going on and knew I couldn't wait for my regular doctor appt the following day. I needed to get on that antibiotic and do it now! Thankfully, I got in and out or there and the pharmacy super fast. Boy, was I thankful as I had an adventure to go on TODAY! This past Sunday, Oct. 6, I suspected the UTI was back (or had never completely left in the first place). I was miserable all day and night. First thing Monday morning I sent an email to the Urgent Care nurse I had seen the week earlier to ask her to call in more of the antibiotic. She had only put me on it for 3 days and I'm guessing it should have been a week. Nope. They couldn't do it unless I came in to pee a second time in a cup. I was way too miserable to try and leave the house for that so I emailed my doctor. After more rigamarole of this and that, I finally was able to get the presciption called in to the pharmacy. Then I had communication problems with the drug store as my phone quit working. Long story. Had to order a cord ($20) but it won't be here until tomorrow. So aggravating to be without a phone. I got on the antibiotic by 12:30 yesterday afternoon because of the "rules delays". I should have taken it sooner, I guess, because it didn't work quickly like it did the previous weekend and I was sick again all day and night.
Woke up this morning still not feeling very perky but then I never am perky in the mornings anymore so I hoped it was just plain ole morning blahs. Was determined to walk my day through it and proceeded to get dressed, showered, had breakfast, cleaned kitchen, etc. etc. My wall clock had stopped so I had to climb up there and retrieve it to put in a fresh battery. My two-day camping trip with a friend (at Fort Worden) is off and I am not happy. She'll still go camping (taking her dog) and if I feel even a little better tomorrow morning, I'll drive in to spend the day and maybe the night if I'm really feeling better. We didn't really have that much planned. Just camping on the beach, walking North Beach, maybe painting rocks, sightseeing around. I'm not giving up hopes on that yet but we'll have to play it by ear. We can always do it another time, I suppose.
Meanwhile, I threw a couple of chicken breasts in the crockpot to cook up for dinner later. Probably just make a salad to go with it since I'm not in the mood for cooking. I have a jigsaw puzzle set up with the edges all done so I can always occupy myself there and I do have a simple sewing project in mind that I might tackle if I feel more energetic as the day progresses.
I sure did notice a difference in my mental recall while abed with a bug. You know how things, people, old movies, places, etc. all run through your mind when you're laying there trying to stay alive? Well, I've found that my recall was pretty poor. Any name I tried to think of just wouldn't come. A couple of times I had to get up and Google something I wanted to remember. Like Donner Party. Don't ask me why I wanted to remember that but I did.
My ears continue to ring now and again and I suspect that vertigo problem is still lingering so I've got to get myself to those head hanging over the edge of the bed exercises. My chest feels kind of tight so I also wonder if a chest congestion bug isn't waiting in the wings for its turn at making me feel bad. Yeah, I know exactly how I sound. Woe is me.
I did see some interesting pictures on Facebook of handy tips and while I saved some to post here, I have to go back now and try to find them again so I can explain a couple that don't have words attached. Well, that didn't work. I never can find stuff again so I'll just post what I have. By the way, you can be entertained quite well by surfing around on FB. I searched for household hints and now I have to go back and study them some more. I'm especially interested in ways to save space since I plan to move to a one bedroom apartment at some point.
Here's some others I liked. Mary and Andy's dog, Poppy, with his favorite pillow, a cartoon my cousin posted, granddaughter Catie with her latest earring design, a photo of classmates who met at Liz O'Brien's house some time back, two bird pics from my yard this morning....and then the handy tips.
