It's Friday again

It's 11 a.m. and I finished up a couple of errands early so I can stay in the rest of the day.  As usual people were driving faster and tailgating more. I've noticed (for years) that this occurs on Fridays. The wind blew hard for about an hour and I thought we were in for stormy weather but now the sun is out so I guess mother nature doesn't know what she wants.  Saw a rainbow too.

While surfing other things on FB, I came across this story about Betty MacDonald who wrote The Egg and I.  Interested me enough to search out her other books. The Plague & I is checked out but I'm on the list at the library and I ordered two others where Catie works 'cause I couldn't find them anywhere else. "Anybody can do anything" and "Much Laughter, a few tears" by Blanche Caffiere, a friend of Betty's.  I think part of the reason I've always been interested in Betty MacDonald is because my grandparents (my mother's folks) lived just a few miles away from her when she wrote The Egg & I and was busy raising chickens.  My grandfather was listed as a poultry farmer so I imagine they knew each other.  And one of my best friends (now deceased) had no use for Betty because Ma & Pa Kettle were fashioned after her relatives. I once told her I would be thrilled if my relatives were depicted in movies, especially when those movies were so popular. She didn't feel the same, though.

I've been reading books by Lisa Gardner lately and have one coming from the Sequim library whenever it's checked back in.  Meanwhile, I started this book by Tom Rob Smith called "The Farm" and so far, it's really good. Anxious to get back to it.

I fasted yesterday 'cause I decided I needed to get back onboard of trying to eat better and eat less. It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it was going to be and today, I'm not really hungry. But the day is early so I'm sure that won't last.  Jenni had me over for dinner night before last and sent me home with a salad.  I opened it today and there's enough for three salads so that's what I'm having the rest of the week. Tonight I'll have a small baked potato with it and maybe a couple chicken nuggets.

Jenni and Wayne are planning another cruise for next October. To Mexico.  Mary and Andy are traveling to NY at Thanksgiving to see his family. Wayne is flying to AZ next Thursday to drive back with Hunter in his truck as he'll be done with his college courses. They're both looking forward to having him home. I'll be going to their house for Thanksgiving.  Not too much else on my agenda so far although I'll drive to Port Townsend on Nov. 9th for a memorial for Lew Morello.

I've been occupying myself around the house with the usual hobbies -- sewing, crafting, reading, conmputer...blah blah blah.  Did order a couple of Christmas presents last night. Like to get my things ordered early if I find something I think might work.

Jenni posted on FB the other day about this incident Wayne saw while out driving his FedX truck. A small dog had been hit by a car and then an eagle flew in and picked it up for dinner. Ugh!

I hear The Kominsky Method is about ready to show up on Netflix with season 2. Looking forward to that along with the next installment of The Crown (with new actors).  Jen and Mary have been loving The Walking Dead so I decided to give it another try and after watching Season 1, I guess I'm hooked now too. Not sure how that happened.

I spent a few days tidying up one of my FB pages called Jefferson County Washington of Yesterday. I didn't like the way all the photos were just THERE so I proceeded to make new folders by topic to ut them in. It was a slow process as FB wouldn't let me do it the fast way and I had to move them page by page.  I'm going to eventually go back to all the photos and see if I can't add more details on some of them.

Well, I found the picture I was looking for of my backyard at the Kirkland house so think I'll post it on FB along with how it looks now.  Fascinates me what money can do.
