It's almost 4 pm. I just finished the book I had checked out of the library -- From Our House by Lee Martin. It's a memoir written by this guy talking about his lifelong relationship with his father and mother. Mainly, his rage towards his dad who had lost both hands in a farming accident and used hooks for hands. It always makes me feel like I've accomplished something when I actually finish a book completely. I love to read and I love having books around me but I struggle with falling asleep almost as soon as I start a chapter. When I think of how I read so much all my life (especially as a young mom) it amazes me that I can't do that now. If we didn't have computers and television with a million channels, it would probably be different.
Yesterday I managed to finish another quilt so now I have three of them sitting in the closet for when I need a gift. I moved the sewing machine back into the bedroom and I plan on letting it sit idle for a while while I do other things. I never seem to let it sit too long, though; I eventually get the urge to pull out my scrap material and MAKE SOMETHING!
I painted half a dozen rocks a few days back and now I have a bird jigsaw puzzle set up on the card table. Also have a stack of crossword puzzle books sitting nearby, not to mention a heck of a lot of books on my bookshelf that are reminding me I really don't need to be going to the library when I have all these unread sitting under my nose.
I had to order a new Roku device as the sound was going out on my old one. Really happy with it so far. It's an upgrade from what I had and I've got more things to choose from. Like Showtime (for free) on the roku channel. I started watching Bryan Cranston in 'Your Honor' and it was really good. So good in fact that it might be kind of tense and reluctant to get back to the next chapter. But I will. I've loved Bryan's acting since Breaking Bad. I put that show right up there with The Godfather and The Sopranos.
My calendar for the rest of the month has nothing penciled in at all! Typical and I'm fine with that as I can generally find things to entertain myself. I'm thinking I want to start writing again and doing more genealogy research. Haven't decided what to write on but I may grab my old autobiography from 2007 and write a sequel. Meaning I'l change some of the ABC subjects and hopefully, write more interesting events.
I got a notice from the cable company that they're doubling my Internet fee next month. I hate cable! The tv part is paid by the management here but I watch very little of the cable tv as I get disgusted with the news being repeated over and over and over again with all the lowlifes walking the earth. So much more to choose from with my roku channels but of course, that won't work without an Internet connection. I'm sure the cable company has lost a lot of business with people cancelling their tv service so I guess they had to figure out a way to gouge those folks who still needed Internet.
Still no snow here but I'm sure it's only a matter of time according to the weatherman.
Jake finally got to go back to school.
Here's the cutest thing I saw on Facebook this week.....
And dinner has just arrived so guess I'll cut this short and eat.
