A Day of Rest Here at Home

I picked up Mary Gaboury at 9 a.m. yesterday morning and we were off for a day of adventure. First stop was at my daughter, Sue's house just outside of Port Angeles. I dropped off a few items and then we headed to Ediz Hook near the coast guard station. I was out of rocks to paint and that area is easy to pick up a sack full quickly. I've got them soaking in a little water with bleach right now and then I'll store away in a box in the closet until the mood hits to be creative.

From there we went to my daughter, Jenni's house in west Port Angeles.  I had more things to drop off and she gave me some material I can use for quilt backing.  Was good to see ole Sammy although he still can't walk. This picture shows the baby stroller in the background that Jenni uses to take him for a walk everyday. He loves it!
From there we drove to Harbor Freight. I was looking for a small halogen lantern as the one Ruth Kvinsland gave me years ago finally gave up the ghost. That was a handy and bright light to use. Prices didn't suit me, however, as I'd seen them cheaper on Amazon so I may order from there later.
Then it was off to Walmart.  My feet were giving me a lot of discomfort but I still didn't feel like messing with one of those electric carts so I hobbled along the best I could.  In a way, it saves me money because there were a few items I wanted but couldn't find and was too weary to keep walking to try and find them.
I did buy a cheap pair of tennis shoes as I wanted something lighter than the clunky heavy ones I have now.  I suspect they're a tiny bit too large but I'll make do.  I also bought a new insole and I think that is helping as I'm walking without pain this morning.  Most of my purchases (outside of a pair of pants) were just various notions like toothpaste and such.  Mary and I both ended up spending around $72 and we walked out of the store at the same time (from different doors). While I was checking out, a lady came by and asked if she could take my picture because I looked like her mother-in-law (I think that's what she said) who had died a while back.
I had trouble with one item that wouldn't scan (you're pretty much limited to checking yourself out unless you're willing to stand in a long line).  A guy came over to help me and that's when I saw the top of my head on the screen. I didn't realize (although I guess I should have) that I was on camera the entire time I was scanning. Saw the top of my head (getting thin with hair) and I said:  Oh!  Is that me?
The guy looked at me kind of strange. Well, of course it is. You're the only one checking out here. Duhhh....

Once we got back in the car, I remembered I forgot to stop at Walgreen's and pick up pictures. Damn!
Had to go all the way back downtown.  We opted to drive thru Jack in the Box since it was right next door so we could skip lunch at the casino and just gamble our money away.  On the way out of town, we stopped at Franz' Bread Store. I got a loaf of bread and some onion bagels.  Free item was a package of hamburger buns so I froze them this morning along with the bagels so I can use them little by little.

The casino (like Harbor Freight and Walmart) didn't require masks so I appreciated that.  I didn't win big but I don't think I lost that much as I did cash out for $75 once I decided I was too tired. We set an hour and half for ourselves to play -- and stuck to it.

I was exhausted when I finally pushed my cart up to the apartment with all my purchases.  I forced myself, however, to throw a load of laundry in the washer as I didn't want to mess with it today. I stayed up until almost 10 (which surprised me) and I slept until 8 this morning. I might do a little sewing later but mainly want to continue getting my genealogy notes in order and to look around and see what else I can find.  I thought I'd start with the women in my family notes.
My mother's biological family names, including maiden names, are Brent, Saddoris, Peterson, Stevens, and Street.  That ought to keep me busy for a while.  Looking forward to hunting for the women on my dad's side too.

My daughter, Jenni, had her Facebook account hacked. I read of that all the time when people say: don't accept a friend request from me because I was hacked."  I never could understand why hackers would find it of value to hack into somebody's FB page.  When I get friend requests, I ALWAYS look on my page first to make sure we aren't already friends; then I ignore it. Jenni, however, was locked out of her FB page.  She had to email 6 people in her "trusted file?" and ask them to go to a FB link and get the code number and then email it to Jenni.  I thought it was all a bunch of hooey but she insisted it was legit so I did it. And so did the others, I believe. She was told she would have to wait 24 hours but even that didn't work so she opted to open a new FB account using a new email address. Here's the picture she used for that account. It was taken on her and Wayne's Alaskan cruise.

Well, I guess that's all I have for now. Below are two pictures I saw on FB. I think the water one is around Port Townsend but I can't remember for sure.
