Monday Noon

I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast with the last of the raspberries on top.  I've got to remember not to talk to strangers in Safeway.  I was studying whether or not to spend the money on the raspberries and standing next to a young girl clerk who was arranging them. I made a comment that I wished berries were half the price they are and how I really like raspberries.  I could tell she was looking at me out of the corner of her eye. Didn't say much in return and I thought - dumb kid!  You'll find out someday how you need to talk to strangers sometimes when you shop.

I went to the hospital for lab and x-rays this morning. Was so happy to get in and out quickly. Sometimes those visits can ruin an entire morning.  Only thing I didn't like was the long hike to the other end of the hospital for the x-ray section. Was sure thankful I had brought my walking stick. I've got to remember to keep it with my more often.  Finally saw my new lady doctor (like her) and she's going to help me figure out why my left fingers go numb.  Could be anything --even from my neck.  She figures the hip pain is most likely bursitis and cortisone shots should help. Had to get x-rays first, though, and then get referred to an orthopedic guy. Whatever.  Girl who checked me in at the hospital said the thyroid test the doctor ordered might not be covered by Medicare and if my secondary doesn't pay, I might have to dish out $130. Ugh!

Looking forward to my outing day after tomorrow with Mary Gaboury. I looked over my to-do list and I have NINE stops to make including two of my daughters' houses.  Our last stop is 7 Cedars and that will be my favorite -- even though I know they're just going to clean me out. I won last time and you don't usually hit it two times in a row.  I don't care. It's only money.

I sold my bike on the Facebook page of Jefferson County buy and sell.  I let it go cheap ($50) and that was probably a mistake since it was a $400 bike and according to my brother, bikes are a hot item right now.  I had over a dozen people interested and ended up selling to a woman who took a ferry and came all the way down from Everett.  The bike was at my brother's house and he said they arrived in a Lexus. I was kind of hoping it would be somebody poorer but whatever.... I know some folks buy up things that are listed super cheap and resell them on Ebay to make a profit. That's our world and I'll just have to accept it.

Next month I have to go to the eye doctor downtown and watch a video about cataract removal. Then (probably in Sept) I have to go to Poulsbo and have one removed. Then I go back downtown for followup and then I go back to Poulsbo again for the other eye.  Sigh....I hate the work entailed in keeping your body intact sometimes.  Mary G. will drive me the first time and Barb Shaw the second.

I sometimes can't find anything I'm interested in on any of the channels I have so last night I started in rewatching the Bosch series on Amazon Prime.  That ought to keep me entertained for a while. Usually I can't remember the plot line anyhow.

I had to apologize to the manager this morning. I had complained about my oven heating up when it shouldn't and how I thought there was mold growing in there.  I've since decided that I spoke too soon and the reason it was getting warm is because the light was left on. The warmth then made the oven cleaner residue appear from where it was not wiped out good by the last person who cleaned it. The white stuff wasn't visible to me until I stuck my head in there to see why the oven was getting warm.

Here's the pictures for today's blog. Most have already been shared on my FB page.

Catie and Louie in Kent. They're getting married next year.,
Cousin Cindy's pets all very interested in something outside their window. Love this picture.
Mary turned 54 yesterday. Her high school friends have remained a tight group and Saturday they met here so I could take pictures of their matching shirts. They went to Fort Worden later and visited on the beach.  It was kind of sad for me after they left as they're all so much fun.  Took me back in time as they used to hang at my house way back in junior high days.
