It's 12:30 in the afternoon and I've been sitting down here in the lounge/library area of Discovery View because it's air conditioned. I've got my fingers crossed that the weatherman is right and things will cool down overnight. I've brought down my laptop, my cross stitch, a couple books, and various snacks. Am chomping on a turkey sandwich right now and washing it down with an A&W rootbeer.
I tried to stick it out in my apartment but I only made it until 10 a.m. Just got too uncomfortable. And then if you try to go back into your apartment after being down here, its hotter than ever! At least it feels like it. I'll deal with it.
Had my 60th reunion yesterday. I was both looking forward to it and dreading it. But only because of the heat. I don't do heat well. Never have. Thankfully, it wasn't quite as bad as I thought it was going to be as we sat under the trees at Sheryl Moch's place out in Chimacum. It was mainly a memorial for classmate Mike Logue and there were probably around 50 people present. From my class there were three ladies and 10 guys. It was obvious we were all moving a whole lot slower than reunions past. A few of the guys were moving pretty good and the other two women (Mary Gaboury and Sharon Sofie) didn't seem to have too much trouble getting around. I did, though. Walking on uneven ground can be a challenge these days anyhow, heat or no heat. I lasted two hours and then had to throw in the towel and go home. Didn't get as many pictures as I wanted because I wasn't keen on getting up and moving around. Then too, I think my camera settings were off as the pictures I did get weren't small. Oh well, live and learn.
My car was parked in the hot sun on a field and the temp gauge read 106 when I hopped in to come home. Too much!
I was going to add more photos but my computer is running way too slow today so you'll have to go on Facebook if you want to see what I took.
Well, can't think of much else offhand. Kind of hard to concentrate when you're used to blogging in a quiet setting and I've got other folks coming in now. Which is fine. They're entitled to a/c too. Ha Ha
