Mary and Me on our Tuesday Adventure

It was such a productive day for me. Unlike yesterday and the day before that totally sucked!    Soooooo happy that the heatwave seems to have gone on its merry way.  I've decided that summer comes in last on my list of what seasons I like. Autumn is first, then spring, then winter, then summer.

I got up at 5:30 because I had pretty much been up and down all night long and I could tell the temperature was going to be better. I rearranged my sewing  area as I decided the ironing board was just taking up too much room. I moved a couple things around and pulled out my mini ironing board. I think that will work good enough for my purposes and it certainly did free up floor space better.

Mary Gaboury walked over about 10:30 this morning (she's only two blocks over) and about an hour later, we decided it was getting on to Penny Saver Sandwich time. I got a heated turkey mighty bite and brought mini cans of rootbeer from home. We drove to our favorite picnic area that we generally have to ourselves --and it's cool and shady.  And where is that you ask?  The Jefferson County transfer station across from Safeway. We park over by the trees.

From there we drove over to Safeway so she could get a prescription filled for Dave. Then we went up on the hill so I could go through the carwash. Was tired of looking at all the bird poop. Hadn't been there in a year and Mary was with me then too.  There was a line but I kept the motor running most of the time so I could keep cool with the a/c. I'm always a tad intimidated going through those automated car washes but I'm braver when someone is with me.

It was kind of pretty when the purple suds started running down the windows. Cost $12.

From there we decided to head out to the North Beach area. Someone at our reunion on Sunday had mentioned to Mary about all the new housing out in that direction so we were off. I had a sack of magazines in my car that I needed to return to Patsy Lamberton anyway and I knew she lived somewhere in that area.  We drove slowly down this one road that I was pretty sure was her neighborhood. Saw this couple sitting in their yard and asked for directions. Lo and behold, it was Patsy's neighbors, Karen and Bill Bloemker.

Luckily, Patsy was home and was nice enough to give us a tour.

I LOVED  her house. She's got so many projects going on and shared her latest quilt. She also had a family of birds. Interesting.

On the back porch is her greenhouse full of orchids.
We had to get a picture of ourselves on the high cliffs overlooking the water.  She said they see whales now and again.

Next I wanted to find Eddy Street to put a painted rock down on this collection someone had started and asked for people to add theirs. Yvonne Starkey told me about it and we drove all over the place (Eddy is quite a busy street with more housing ready to go in).  I never did find the rock collection but I did stop at Paul Nollette's (on Ivy) to see if he knew where it was.  I left him a rock and made Patsy take one too. Ha!
Last stop was Laurel Grove Cemetery where I wanted to leave another chicken rock on my grandpa's grave.

My  big green one from a previous trip was still there along with the mother hen statue with chicks that my brother, Les, put down a few years ago. I added an orange chicken today.

I was pleased to get home and find the apartment nice and cool. I did order another small fan today so I'll have one by my sewing machine and not have to keep moving them back and forth.

I plan on heating up leftover mac & cheese in the fridge for dinner tonight and tomorrow I'll start sewing the little quilt pieces together for this pattern I'm thinking might might a neat four-patch wall hanging.  Has to be small projects these days as my space is limited.

Don't have any plans for the 4th of July although Mary and I are going to drive out to Marrowstone Island  on either Fri, Sat, or Sunday so I can drop a birthday gift off for my brother, Les, who lives in Nordland and turns 74 on the 4th of July. We plan on going down to East Beach for a little picnic (if it's not too crowded but I know it will be) and I'll look for a handful of rocks to paint next time I'm in the mood.

And that's it for now.......
