Last day of July

It's going on 1 pm and I've managed to get quite a few little odd jobs done that were on my to-do list. The one that made me the most happy was how I figured out how to fix a dashboard reading on my car. It was right there in the manual all the time but I had overlooked it the first time.  Ended up being a small display button on my steering wheel. Something that would be easy to push and I'm surprised I hadn't done it sooner.

I made up four mini loaves of banana bread and gave three to neighbors, including one who had gifted me the black bananas in her freezer.  I'm supposed to be getting a new stove next week so we'll see....

I tidied up my freezer and looked over what small pkgs of meat I had stored away in the corners. I was determined not to buy more meat until I use up what I have. I usually repackage any meat I buy into small meal sizes and some of it doesn't look all that inviting but I'll eat it.  Fish, stew meat, turkey ham, pork ribs.  Little things I accomplished included cleaning out the medicine cabinet and throwing away pills, calling in a prescription, washing my comb and brush, cleaning out the sink, curling my hair (waste of time), washing up the dishes, sorting through some bins of clothes to see if there was anything I could get rid of (not yet). And writing a letter to my sis in prison.  And how many people can put that on their to-do list?!  ha ha

I won't go into detail about the opthomologist I saw about my cataract surgery coming up but he's now decided I don't need them removed.  Long story and I'm thoroughly disgusted with that PT office. In another year or two, I'll head to the Sequim office and have them checked again.

I pulled out a three-ring binder of little odds and ends of things I've saved through the years and came across some pages of my wedding book. I probably should have just left them in the book but I was downsizing so I tore out what I wanted and tossed the book. Hard to believe I was married 57 years ago. I reread the gift list and there was an abundance of sheets, pillow cases, towels, pot holders, place mats, and glasses.  Got 7 hand held electric mixers too.  And a deck of cards and a cookbook among other

things.  Out of all those, I have three items left. A knife (not sure what happened to the rest of the set) and two candy dishes.  I'm pretty sure the dishes came from Eisenbeis' store downtown. My aunt Elva gave me the gold one and Sharon Lindsey the white one.  The knives were from my cousins, the Walkers.  As I read all the names of the girls who came to my wedding shower (in Portland, Ore in 1963) I couldn't remember what even one of them looked like. I tried to see if they were on Facebook but I couldn't find them.

Two of my daughters are back from their summer vacations now. Jenni and Wayne with another couple and the twins went to Vegas.

Mary and Andy went to Sun Lakes Resort in E. Washington with a boatload of other folks. They're moving to Vancouver on August. 2nd.

My sister turned 75 yesterday. My brother, Les, turned 74 on the 4th of July, as did my half sister in Pennsylvania who turned 68. My twin grandchildren turned 21 on July 18th. Everyone's gettin' old!

Next weekend Mary Gaboury and I are picking up Alyce Hansen in Port Ludlow and we'll head to Hadlock Bldg Supply for a free lunch in the parking lot. Doesn't that sound exciting? I'm taking my camera as I'm hoping we'll see people we know. I'm also taking my walker so I can sit down if I need to---and I already know I'll need to!  The next weekend Mary (and her family members) are having a big yard sale so I'll be sitting at the money table for Friday and Saturday mornings.  Come buy something.

Today I plan on working on my jigsaw puzzle while watching the Olympics.  I'm not all that interested in a lot of the events but do enjoy golf, trampoline, badminton, gymnastics, and weight lifting. And that's all for today. My left hand is aching to beat the band so I don't know what that's about. Arthritis? Rain coming? Whatever....   I guess I'll go take a pill and quit using the keyboard for a few hours.
