Doorway Decorations

Even after a year, there's still folks here I haven't met yet. Many just keep to themselves. Like me kinda. I don't go out and about much --but I go more than some. Anyhow, I was noticing the doorways and shelves of some of the residents, and I thought "that would make a good blog subject." So I walked up and down both floors taking snapshots. Interesting how you can wander the halls after 5 or 6 at night and it's like a ghost town. I seldom see anybody. This time, though, I ran into a lady who walks the halls daily so she went with me on my little camera expedition.

First is my door. I change it from time to time and I think others do too. This driftwood hanging was a gift from my friend, Ann, and I could never find the right spot for it in my apt so I hung it in the doorway so others could enjoy it. The basket below holds a stuffed frog that Linda Pedersen gave me for Christmas one year. The little shelf (which gets changed out the most) shows two frogs that belonged to my stepmom, Marcella; a plant that my sister gave me, another flower in a vase that a neighbor gifted me, and the picture hanging is a Port Townsend street scene. The little white sign was also a gift from Linda Pedersen. She picked it up at a yard sale and said it "was us."  haha

These next three pictures belong to my closest buddy up here. We have a mutual friend (Yvonne Starkey) and she's building ambassador here as well. Meaning she lets people in that have locked themselves out or helps in other ways that she can. She's "off the wall" and I think that's why we get along so well.  Character from the word go.

These next two are from a guy who lives down the hall. He hates Trump so I like him even though we haven't really got to know each other. He's on the quiet side but has a dog that the whole floor loves named Frido. The picture on his shelf is of Lulu, another neighbor down the hall who died recently. She was an artist and a favorite with many as her picture is displayed at other doors too.

The guy across the hall from me is also an artist and one of his drawings hangs outside his door. He's also been in some movies from what I hear -- and plays trumpet.

The rest of these are from neighbors on this floor and the first floor.

This next one (can't remember whose door it was) but she must have cats. The balloons are hung because it was her birthday. The bldg. ambassador makes sure everyone gets a decorated door and she makes them a paper crown too. And sometimes sends a card around to be signed.

I've been in this lady's apartment and I think it's the neatest one I've seen. She has a  live parrot and the house is decorated with bird themes.

And this last one is the first thing I tacked on my door when I moved in.

And that includes your tour of the hallways where I live. Come on over and see me sometime.
