It's 10 a.m. and I've been up for about three hours already. Washed a load of laundry, rearranged a couple things in the bedroom, went for a short walk, had Cheerios for breakfast, and decided I was overdue writing on my blog. Mainly because I don't have that much to talk about that isn't a repeat of the day before. But that's okay. I'll be picking up Mary Gaboury at 1:45 to head to the Catholic cemetery for the burial of an old classmate. Kathleen Delaney didn't graduated with us as she married early but she was still around in the first couple years of high school. Was living in Texas. This photo was taken in August of 2016 when she visited with her daughter and was staying down at Point Hudson marina area.
My granddaughter, Maddie, stopped in for a quick visit earlier this week. I got kind of sad afterwards as I realized I haven't really got to be around her much these past years and I'll see even less of her in the next few years. That's life I guess. I don't really see any of my four grandchildren that much. Everyone lives too far apart and has busy lives -- but that's the way it should be. Maddie got married July 1st and will be moving into a new apartment in Spokane this week with her Air Force hubby. In October, he'll drive to Columbus, MS (his new assignment) in her car and then fly back home. Then, they'll both drive to MS in his pickup pulling his boat. And her new life begins.....She brought up my large PC that I had stored at Jenni's along with the speakers, keyboard, and monitor. I got everything hooked up and then realized the monitor must have been damaged somewhere along the way as it was obviously broken. I took it to Goodwill and am hoping to get up to Port Angeles next week to pick up another monitor that Jenni's friend may have for me. I wanted to try out the PC because this laptop continues to do "weird things" and if anything irritates me, it's having something not work and I don't know why! Screens pop up (not ads) among other things. Like this one!
One thing that especially bugs me is the way the cursor jumps to another part of the document I'm working on. My patience level is in the toilet most of the time these days. I know changing computers isn't going to help the slowness I'm experiencing while online and I don't understand why that is happening either. I do delete my cookies from time to time but that's about all I know to do. I plan on cancelling my Avast virus protection when the year is up too as they drive me nuts with their continual pop ups telling me to upgrade. Electronics push my buttons a lot. Already this morning I've had two "scam suspected" calls. One guy in Aberdeen calls me ALL THE TIME. And a lot of the garbage is to tell me to upgrade my car maintenance insurance.
I've been lucky so far that my car hasn't needed repairs but I suppose it's only a matter of time. Yesterday this setting on my dashboard started flashing weird numbers....like 95.4, 22.8, 33.7, etc and it was next to INST. My manual says it's telling me what kind of gas mileage I'm getting but I never asked it to tell me that and it never did it before so what's the deal here? Just another annoyance!
I opened up a fresh bag of berries that I'd had in the freezer (store bought) and was surprised to see freezer burn on the fruit. What the hell?! It was sealed! My individual meat pkgs (that I bagged) also have freezer burn on them. I must be doing something wrong. Probably need to wrap in plastic wrap and then put in a freezer bag. Live and learn, I suppose.
This morning one of the things I changed out was what I store on top of my refrigerator. I've had cereal boxes up there since I moved in but after watching Youtube videos on how to save space, I realized I could put the boxes on top of my high cupboard cabinet where I keep food. That freed up the frige top for a fan, an electric skillet, my blender, and my container of vitamin bottles. I'm also going to buy one of those tension rods to put in the area over my sink between two kitchen shelves.
I've had foot cramps three nights in a row and last night was, by far, the worst! Took me forever to work it out so now I have my electric massager near the bed so I can use it if needed. I'm also going to google what I can do. I used to get these cramps from time to time but I haven't been plagued with them for ages so I don't know what the deal is here. I do know it's interrupting my sleep and making me SAD!
My latest tv entertainment is watching Youtube videos at night. On my TV while I'm planted in the recliner. I enjoy these two guys called Bob & Brad who discuss exercises and health tips for seniors. Also like Darlene Michaud who chats on about sewing, crafts, and her life in general. Probably not everybody's cup of tea as her language is peppered with FU's but I find her entertaining.
One of the 'Looking Back' photos that Facebook put on my homepage this morning was this one from last year (I think) where I was in the process of downsizing in my Port Angeles garage in anticipation of moving. Interesting to see so many of the things I don't have anymore.
Yesterday I cleaned up the latest collection of rocks I picked up at East Beach for painting. I finally got this 500-piece jigsaw puzzle done (it was harder than I thought it was going to be) and I was happy to put away my card table. It does make my living room smaller depending on what craft I'm playing with at the time. My sewing project area is limited to this one wall in my bedroom. I ordered a new ironing board cover but much to my dismay, it was the hardest cover I've ever had to put on a board. I didn't want to mess with returning it so I ordered these clips that hold the cover underneath. Seems to work pretty well.My computer was running so slow this morning I decided to restart it and of course, that meant I couldn't use it for a while as it wanted to update. I figured I might as well go for a short walk around the block while waiting. Had to use my walker but I'm thankful I have it. Some days I can get around just fine but lately, those days are far and in between. My cortisone shot helped on my left hip but did nothing for the right side. Which I don't even know if it's my hip that's giving me grief. Seems to be the low back area close to the right hip. I've probably got a bulging disc or a pinched nerve or some such thing going on. Had it for years and sooner or later I'm going to have to push a little harder to get it diagnosed and see if it can be fixed. It's definitely limiting what I can do and where I can go.Two pictures I took this morning include these...two guys trimming the front hedge and a flower arrangement near a bench.
Well, I guess I'll get on the phone and see if I can connect with the eye doctor. Been getting such a runaround from the local office I'm about ready to try someone else. In fact, I think I will. Just got a call from the neurologist in Silverdale changing my appt from Sept. 8th to Aug. 26. My left hand continues to go numb so I'm hoping it's just carpal tunnel or something that can be fixed. I'm also dealing with neuropathy in my toes but that seems to be common for older folks. Have to work a little harder at getting my glucose numbers down as I'm pre-diabetic and once you get that, all kinds of fun stuff start happening.
And that's about it for now.
