I had a couple of errands to run so I took my camera along in case I got in the mood to ride around and look at stuff. And, of course, I did. Went uptown, parked, and walked a couple blocks around the business district. Farmers Market was in full swing and the sidewalks were full of people and dogs. Oh, and seagulls! See that one on the top of the first picture? I didn't notice it until I uploaded my photos to my computer but I knew they were about because I barely missed having a big ole glop of poop fall on me!
I noticed that my balance was just a tad off as I walked up and down sidewalks and off curbs, sometimes looking up. Might have to use my walking stick next time I decide to do a walkabout. view of Aldrich's today looking down Lawrence Street

I drove around town a little while and as usual, was drawn to my old neighborhoods. Here the brown house I lived in from about age 4 to 9. I don't have any pictures of how it looked in the 1940's but here's one from 1993 and today.
You can barely even see the house now and if you drive around town, you'll notice the tall trees EVERYWHERE changing how you remember the views from your childhood. I actually like trees. The golf course definitely has a jillion more trees than when I walked through it as a kid to get to school. And driving along Kearney (from the old Del's Grocery) towards town, there are trees along that road that never used to be there too.I stopped at the old Del's Grocery to peek in the windows of the Recovery Cafe. I don't think it's open yet, though.
I stopped at Safeway to cash in my Hit5 Ticket and asked for a roll of quarters. Need them to use the washer and dryer here. Well, I was told....sorry....we can't give out quarters now. There's a shortage. I said "but I can get them at the bank, right?" They weren't sure because they said the bank wasn't giving them any either. Oh dear. I went to the bank but they were closed on Saturday so I went to QFC. She didn't want to give me any but relented and gave me $5 worth. Then I found a penny in the parking lot. haha Anyhow, the asst. manager here told me I can use my debit card to wash and dry clothes if I use the newer machines. I hate that! I had to use my debit card in Sequim at Office Depot to make enlarged copies on their printer. Wouldn't take coins. Plus I had to figure it out myself as customer service is pretty hit and miss anywhere you go these days.
I filled my vitamin cups this morning and charged my camera battery. Next I think I'll bake up a banana bread. Mary G. has friends visiting today and if they decide to ride around town, I may be the driver. Waiting to see if Mary calls. I did pick up some ground flaxseed at Safeway this morning as I hear it's good for lowering blood pressure. Plan on putting it in my cereal. Saw it on Bob & Brad, my two favorite guys to watch on youtube. I continued to tune in every night and I'm lovin' it! Watched Billy Crystal give the eulogy for Ali (it was great!), watched various quilt tips, watched an hour of an old Oscar show from the 70's, and watched this couple give a tour of their container house. Fascinating. My next thing to tune in is this woman who has ongoing videos about this dog they rescued from the animal shelter. He'd been there for over a year and I'm so loving watching the commentary. Other favorites include the hour long biography of Roy Orbison and lots of Dollar Tree tips of what to buy and ways to save space when you live in a small area. Oh, and last night I came across Tina Turner performing. Love her!
Here's three pictures I saw on Facebook that I found amusing......
I especially liked this Uhaul truck picture. I found out recently after visiting a cousin that my grandpa traveled from either MO or IL to Pendleton, OR when he was about 9 --and they came in a covered wagon. I always wondered if that was so and my cousin said our grandpa told him that was how they came.
I'm going to start a new cross stitch project this evening. Always have to have something to work on while I'm sitting in front of the tv. This is the piece I just completed; I'll probably work it into a small quilt or something.
Tomorrow two of my grandchildren turn 21! So hard to believe. I don't have any recent pictures so here's one of them taken in high school. So dang cute!
