I guess I shouldn't really be saying OH NO! I'm older. I should be thankful I'm still upright. And I am .....most of the time. It's 4:15 in the afternoon and I've got a Cornish game hen roasting for dinner. Think I'll fix a baked potato to go with it and maybe some peas. I like peas.
I was under the weather a bit the last day or two. Not really sick but feeling crummy, nevertheless. Of course the first thing you wonder --is this covid? Sigh... I had the news on just now but as usual, got sick and tired of hearing the same ole thing over and over again. You know the subject.
I managed to keep fairly busy today. Took a neighbor to Safeway as she does shopping and prescription pickups for a few folks who can't get out. I needed gas anyhow so was glad to get that over with. Came home and got to work on the two small quilts that needed batting and backing. Hate that part but I stuck with it and tomorrow I may pin them using the table downstairs.
I had a piece of green material to use for the jelly roll strip quilt and had to piece together 3 pieces of cotton batting for the inside. I used orange for the other quilt and that required some fancy sewing of various pieces to get a piece large enough for the back. Same with the pink flannel sheet I used in the middle. Buying batting can get expensive so I try to use flannel sheets from Goodwill when I can find it. The pink one today was pretty worn but I fixed the big hole in it with a patch. I pretend it's my Little House on the Prairie blanket. haha
It looks purple here. Not sure why 'cause it was definitely pink!
Watched the Emmys last night but as usual, I wasn't really impressed much. Too many showoffs acting stupid! I never did watch the whole thing. Kind of disappointed too that I'd never seen many of the shows. One that got a lot of nominations was on Apple TV. I don't even know what that is!
I have become hooked on Youtube most evenings now anyhow. Always find something interesting. I'm listening to another Jodi Picoult book on audio right now. Picked up three at the Jefferson County Library. Made a list of all her books and intend to read or listen to as many as possible. I'm also reading a book I just got in the mail from Ebay. Travelin' Man, a biography of Rick Nelson.
I'm planning on joining the Jeff Co. Genealogical Society this fall too. They're open twice a week and I'm pretty sure I could keep myself entertained at that place out on the airport cutoff. Youtube has a lot of videos with tips on how to use the Mormon website and ancestry.com.
Heard that our activity director is leaving this week to go work for Avamere next door. Less hours with better pay. Everyone is really going to miss her but then the residents who take part in the activities usually only number 4 to 7 and usually just 3 or 4.
Mary G and I are heading to Walgreen's and Walmart in Sequim on Wed and then back to the casino for a quick lunch and an hour of gambling. The next day my friend, Ann, is coming to visit from Issaquah, and Friday I'm going to dinner with Barb Shaw and Sam Johnson at the Roadhouse. Next Tuesday I get my first of two injections in my back. Have to drive to Silverdale three times. The third time is just followup I guess. Then I have to drive to Poulsbo two more times for some kind of radio frequency treatment that is supposed to make the shots last longer. I hope so. I'm not keen on driving over there that many times but I'll jump through whatever hoops I have to if I can get my mobility back and rejoin the world. I'm especially looking forward to going on daily walks.
On the 29th next week I drive Mary and Dave to Kingston so their daughter can pick them up in Edmonds and take them to Sea=Tac for their flight to Yuma. They'll stay there until next spring. Mary and I also plan to hit the Elks Club on Sept. 24th to see who shows up for the class of '60 reunion they're planning from noon until 5. Open to anyone so come on over!
I saw a guy carrying in a roll of carpet this morning so I guess we're getting closer to having new rugs on the hallway floors. About time. It's been months.
Went to a memorial at the American Legion on Saturday for Betty Caldwell and her son-in-law, David Griffin, who was married to Marcia Caldwell. I hadn't seen Marcia in a long time. We used to work together in the mill office. Here she is with her son, Chris.
And that's about it for this week. Hope you're enjoying the cooler weather. I know I am.
