It's my Birthday

Well, I made it to 78. Unfortunately, I've had IBS to contend with all day too. At least I guess it's IBS. Whatever it is, I've been suffering off and on for years.  It goes away for quite a while and I always notice it. Then.... as a nice surprise, it returns.  I used to think it was food related but it's not. And sometimes I think it's stress related (which could be correct) but other times, I suspect it's just plain old innards! I won't subject you to the details but I do know I'm darn tired of it.  My tummy has been feeling kind of blah the last few days and a headache comes and goes too so maybe I've just got a regular old bug of some kind. I even took Imodium this morning as I knew I was going to be out and about. Didn't help much, though. Oh well tomorrow is another day.

I slept very poorly last night. Went to bed at 10 and was still tossing at 1 a.m. so I moved to the recliner and stayed there until 5. Then it was back to bed for two and half more hours.  With nightmares as an added bonus.  Life is just hard sometimes.  I'm sitting here yawning my head off now but it's going on 5 and there's no way I'm taking a nap this late in the day!

Tami Hewitt came by with flowers and a cake that Mary ordered for me and Tami also brought me barbequed chicken wings, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a container of mac & cheese. Oh boy!  And I was going to fix bacon and eggs for supper.  Trish across the hall decorated my door late last night so I've attached that picture along with the one she did last year. Also pictured is my flowers & cake from Mary and dinner from Tami. Oh, and a picture that Trish decorated for my door.

Pumpkin cheesecake from Trish along with a little tonka toy she probably found out walking.
2021 balloons at my door today
my balloons from last year (she does this for all residents)

Picture Trish drew and decorated and wrote underneath. That's not my face, by the way.

Mary G and I went to Sequim early to hit Walmart and Walgreens. Neither store had any popcorn poppers, which I thought was odd.  I was looking for an air popper but I'll search Amazon.  We stopped at the casino for an hour but didn't win. We opted to pick up Penny Saver Sandwiches after we got back in town instead of eating at the casino.

Apparently we had a little bit of drama in the old folks' home this afternoon. Two residents (women) got into it over something? and I don't know what all happened  (maybe a shove or just words?)  Another resident (always the drama queen) took it upon herself to call the police.  Makes me laugh just to type the words. So sorry I missed it all. I always miss the good stuff.

Read the obits in the Leader today. Sorry to hear about Jane Schwencke. I sure liked her.  She grew up in the pink house where I raised my kids and I can remember walking to school with her sometimes, although I was just a grade school or maybe junior high girl and she was a high schooler.  Nicely written obit too.

Tomorrow my friend, Ann, is coming over to visit and the day after that I'm going out to dinner with Barb Shaw and Sam Johnson. Am I repeating myself? Probably.  My granddaughter, Catie, is coming over on Sunday an then Tuesday is my big day to get a shot in my back. Mary and Dave leave the day after that and I'll be taking them to Kingston to walk on the ferry. Here's a picture I took of Mary this morning in the Walmart parking lot.

I ordered HBO last night. Wanted to see some of the shows nominated for Emmys. I watched a couple episodes of Hacks (with Jean Smart) and it was okay but I really enjoyed the one with Kate Winslet called Mare of Easttown. I'm going to watch it again tonight. If I can stay awake that long.

Well, that's it for now. I'm dragging so bad I may end up laying down anyway.
