Stupid Oven!

I had my reservations that my "new" oven would be a good one.  Always suspicious.  The paper that came with it said:  if you think your new oven is too hot or too cold, you can adjust the thermostat yourself to meet your specific cooking preference.  Hmmm...do I dare ask Gabe or Al, the maintenance guy? I'm betting it won't be received well. I sure don't see any thermostat. There was also a note on the paper saying "don't use thermometers found in grocery stores as these may vary 20-40 degrees. That'll be Gabe's answer to me.  I used THREE different thermometers all at once and they all read the exact same thing:

I set 350 and got 300
I set 400 and got 340, then it dropped to 325
I set 450 and got 375
I set 500 and got 425.

And one of the thermometers was brand new.  I'm just going to have to work my way around it as best I can, I guess.  I can use my little oven but it isn't always the best for baking. Better for toasting and airfrying.  Oh well, at least I'm not homeless. I see the newscasts on tv and I feel so sorry for those folks. What are they going to do when winter hits and how do they manage when they get sick?  So sad.

I finished 88-6" squares today. Big job. It's the hourglass pattern and tomorrow I wil start sewing them together.    Nothing else much on the agenda although I might take a neighbor for a ride out to Marrowstone tomorrow or Tuesday. Want to stop at the library in Hadlock too.  Wednesday I'm driving to the pain clinic in Bremerton. Got my fingers crossed on that outcome.

Mary (daughter) gave me a tour of her house today (via her cellphone video) so that was fun to see. Poppy followed her everywhere she went.  I made chicken chimichangas for dinner so that takes care of the next two nights.

Mary G. went to her g.grandson's birthday party yesterday and I saw these pictures on Facebook.

I took a little time to clean out some junk drawers this afternoon. It's amazing how quickly junk drawers can take on a life of their own so quickly.

I ordered a book about Rick Nelson today.  Saw it on Ebay for $10 where other sellers wanted over $40 for it!  I always enjoy reading about my teenage idols.  The one on Jerry Lee Lewis was especially good.

And I guess that's it for this Sunday.  Now I'm gonna go post some old Rainbow pictures on Facebook.
