It's been an okay Friday

Yesterday I played around with Modge Podge. I think it was my first time. Didn't realize it was kind of stinky so I ended up keeping my two living room windows open all night. And when I got up, it wasn't cold in here at all.  I've had open all day long but then the wind hasn't been blowing. Just lots of rain.

For some dumb reason I decided I needed to go to Goodwill. My thinking was "since it's raining so hard, there won't be many people out and about."  Nope.  No such luck. Traffic was heavy.  I picked up two more flannel sheets so I'll have them onhand once I decide to start putting the quilt tops together. I've probably got at least 4 or more stored in bins just waiting for my energy level to begin the process.

I made two Xmas glass plates with the modge podge. You pretty much have to study more than one video on youtube to get a good idea on how to proceed.  I got out the Santa Claus plate that Mary Norton made me a few years ago and hers seems such smoother and nice than mine. But then, I'm always super critical of everything I make.  I think I did use too much podge though. Lesson learned.

I pushed myself to finish four pillow cases. I figured doing them assembly line style would make things easier but it wasn't.  The first one I didn't catch all the layers while sewing so I had to take it all apart and start again.  They're very pretty. Used spring flowers material. As slow as I went trying to make them perfect, they still only get a B on my grade list.  I'm not sure why I keep thinking everything has to be just so. I need to get over that!

I found another video on how to pour paint for rocks and learned exactly what I didn't pay attention to the first time. For one thing, my rock had to have WET white paint on it before I added the colored paint.  I got some triple thick glaze from Amazon yesterday and put a light coat on the six of the rocks. I'll probably add another coat after it dries. Maybe even a third coat. Tomorrow I'm going to paint some rocks my old way AND do some "pouring" using the proper system.

Tonight I'll sit down and work on my Lousie Penny book called Still Life. I'm about halfway through it. I'll also spend an hour (maybe two) watching the Peacock channel with my roku.  I went ahead and bought the $5 a month subscription as I discovered it was the only way I could watch the seasons of Yellowstone with Keven Costner.  LOVIN' IT TOO!!!!!

Mary sent me a picture of how Jake sometimes sits on the couch while on his phone. Just cracked me up so I had to put it on Facebook.

Medical expenses hit the pocketbook this week. Went to see an optometrist in Hadlock as I didn't care much for the one downtown.  He actually came up with different things to tell me about my eyes.  Also hit the dentist to find out if the ongoing headaches, toothaches, and sometime earaches was dental related or sinus.  I had just finished a week of antibiotics and the teeth were behaving but since I had to jump through hoops to even get a dentist to see me, I figured I might as well keep the appt. Cost me close to $200 to find out it's probably sinus. I did the exact same thing last year. I wonder if I've learned my lesson.

Nothing on my agenda now until Thanksgiving when I drive (with Dana and Lill) to Vancouver to see Mary and Andy. Oh...and the big news of the day......Andy got a job today. He'd had dozens of interviews these past weeks so we're all thrilled that horrible process of applying for jobs is done with. I've been through that myself a few times and it isn't a period of my life I look back on with pleasure. He'll be able to work from home and Mary says it's more money than he's ever made before. Woo Hoo!
For an outfit out of Chicago called Fay Financial and he starts Nov. 29.  CONGRATULATIONS ANDY!
