I know I haven't blogged much these past weeks. Sometimes there isn't much to talk about although I never seem to let that stop me from talking about nothing. It's been about 11 days now and time to catch up a bit. It's 8 a.m. as I sit here with my morning coffee half listening to the Sunday CBS Show. Slept pretty good last night but then I knew I would after being away from my own bed and pillow for a couple nights. And that little weekend getaway will be a big part of my story sharing today.
When Mary and Andy relocated to Vancouver, WA a few months ago, I was kinda' sad because as hard as it was for me to get to Renton to visit, I figured Vancouver was going to be a major obstacle. But that's my own doing since I've fine-tuned this phobia about freeways. I hate high speed runways with all kinds of nut cases sharing the road. We encountered one on the way home yesterday morning. My brother, Dana, was driving and he's an excellent and very cautious driver, always alert. I don't remember where we were on the freeway exactly but things were moving along okay with only occasional bouts of light rain and traffic. At one point (I'm fairly certain it was a woman) was entering the freeway on her onramp. Instead of yielding to Dana, this broad decided our car needed to yield to her! Dana swerved at the last second when he realized just what she intended. Missed us by inches and then what does she do? Rolls down her window and flips us off. I sat in the back seat for our trip home and after seeing this display of stupidity, I was reminded again of how accidents occur on these speedways and how road rage crops up too! It was lucky for her I wasn't packin' heat. hahahahaha
Once we exited I-5 for the 101 route around Hoods Canal, I heaved a sigh of relief. The final leg allowed me to sit back and enjoy the scenery. You always see so many things you didn't see the first time and several questions always come to mind where I knew I was going to do some Googling when I got home. I had keyed in Mary's address to Google maps on my phone for the trip down but Dana had already studied a map and recalled (I don't know how) every turn we needed to make to get to Mary and Andy's front door.
Their house is huge. Unfortunately, it also has steep stairs but I managed one step at a time both ways. I've already posted pictures on Facebook but here's a collection I took for the two days we were there. We being me, Dana, and my sister-in-law, Lill.
A view from Mary's yard. Lots of new housing going in all around her but she seems to be living in a kind of rural area for now. Not a lot of traffic as downtown Vancouver is a ways away. Here's the view in the other direction
And going down yet another street
This picture and the following two are things I slept with when Jake let me have his bed for the duration
I was surprised when he suggested he try on my wig. Said it itched too much. I told him that's why I don't wear it unless I'm having a photo taken.
Here's Lill and Dana watching tv while Andy and Mary prepare our mealI loved seeing Poppy but unfortunately, I couldn't wrestle with her like I wanted because her claws did a number on my arms as soon as I arrived. My skin is so thin these days that I break out in red blood marks which stay around WAY TOO LONG! As shown below.
Here's three pictures of our Thanksgiving meal prep and sit-down.
