My Day in P.A.

I left around 9 a.m. as I wanted to hit the various places on my errand list early. The Dollar Store in Sequim was my first stop. I only bought 9 items although I was hoping to get a lot more that I had written on my list.  Stopped at Serenity House but they had little to offer. I ended up buying a paint stick (for stirring paint) that was about 10" long 'cause it had a ruler on it and that's what I wanted. A plain ole ruler that I could read easily.  I was annoyed that he charged me tax on a dime. I went on Google this morning to see if we are actually charged tax on 10 cents but I couldn't find it anywhere so I asked on FB.

Since traffic was super light and I could scoot across the high

way easily, I ran into Goodwill to see if they had anything on my list. Nope!  I've become aware (since watching youtube) that the Goodwill stores on the peninsula are crummy!  Especially when you see what other towns have.  And I've also noticed that all the Goodwill stores charge way too much.  I did stop at Walmart in Sequim and after having to walk the entire length of the store, I discovered their prices for the simple sewing things I wanted were too much.  I did buy a pkg of  batting but that was only because I had walked so far to get back there!

Next I went into Walgreen's in Port Angeles. I had placed a reprint order there and it's the quickest and cheapest way I've found to get my photos copied.  Then it was over to Jenni's so I could throw my quilts in her large washing machine. Also did a load of regular laundry. She followed me back to Wilder Auto so I could drop off my car for an oil change. Their rates are cheaper than P.T.s.  Cost me $58 with tax.  We decided to just drive thru Jack in the Box for lunch. I shouldn't have but I got a shake. They make the best and I hadn't had one in over a year. Of course I knew I was going to pay for it later.  We ate in the parking lot of Joanne's and then we went in to browse. I bought nothing. Too expensive. They had a tiny little ironing board (for doing sleeves) that had a price tag of $28.  Are they nuts?!  I was looking for a pin cushion, a tape measure, some clips (for sewing), some batting, and elastic. The batting prices were through the roof and I'll be damned if I 'm going to buy a pin cusion for $3.  Amazing what you can decide you can live without once you see what people expect you to spend.  I walked out buying nothing.

We went back to Jenni's to put the stuff in the dryer and when it was done, we drove to Grocery Outlet. Very impressed with that store. Good prices. I got 5 chicken breasts for $8 among other things.  From there we went back to Wilder to transfer my laundry and groceries into my car. I headed on home and then decided spur of the moment to stop at the casino and play $20.  Down the tube it went quite fast so I left and came home.

I was so worn out by the time I made two trips to bring stuff up here to the apartment that I had to force myself to stay up until 8 pm.  I'd been dealing with IBS earlier that morning and I think that contributes to my fatigue.  Had more episodes this morning but I figured that shake might (or might not) have had something to do with it.

I forced myself to get all the household chores done I had been thinking about working on. It ended up being quite the to-do list. I brought books from the bedroom bookcase to the living room, moved picture boxes from the bookcase to the closet shelves, cleaned up and rearranged  my various bins, put my ironing board cover back on, washed dishes, cleaned kit shelves and moved stuff to the pantry shelves,  got the chicken breasts into separate freezer bags, cleaned the range top pieces, hung a picture on the wall,  and sorted through  my CDs.  Later I ran to Safeway to buy a few items. I wanted molasses to make these cookies that were given to me at Xmas but I didn't want to pay $5 for the jar. Yeah, I'm cheap.

My feet were absolutely killing me by the time I walked back to my car. I had changed shoes before I left as I thought they would feel better. But no, I made things worse. Sure was thankful I left my walker inside the front door in the lobby so I could push my heavy sack upstairs.  Some days my body reminds of just how old I am!

My neighbor, Michelle, brought me two chicken enchilladas so my dinner is all prepare and ready. I have a salad already made. Love not having to cook. Another neighbor asked if I'd watch her dog, Lola, if she decides to go to a bridge tournament in Vancouver. That should be fun. Lola and I get along pretty good.

Got my wedding announcement from granddaughter, Catie, yesterday. They're getting married at Salt Creek Rec Area on the other side of P.A. on April 22.  Mary and Andy took Jake to the Globestrotters today so I bet they're having fun.  I plan on watching the football game at 5 and tomorrow (cause I see I'm too tired today) I'll start working on my new blog with my genealogy research notes. Am calling it "Grandpa had a mule."  I guess I already shared that much.

I think I'm ready for a nap now.

And here's Jake at the Globetrotters game in Portland.
