My first trip out

Ventured out onto the roads this morning. Everything clear and that was very comforting. Dropped my neighbor off at the Catholic Church and headed for Safeway. I had a $50 gift card so I was thrilled when I only had to put $18 on my debit at checkout. At one point, I thought I recognized an old school mate. I pushed my cart up to her and said: "how the hell are you?"  She said: I'm fine and you?

All of a sudden, I realized this might not be who I thought it was as the person I thought it was would be very loud in response.  When she told me her name, I apologized but we just laughed about wearing face masks these days.  Pretty soon my phone rang so I got to visit with my daughter, Mary, as I continued filling my cart.  When I got to checkout, this lady ahead of me starting chatting. I didn't recognize her and said "who are you?"  She said: I'm a stranger but I always chat with people. So we chatted a bit more. AND THEN.... as she was checking out, she grabbed my ice cream and told the clerk: "I'm buying this for the lady behind me."  Say what?!  I've never had that happen before.  She said she had just sold her home and was feeling especially good.  Yay!

I stopped to get my lotto tickets but forgot to buy a power ball. I wonder if it's still way up there. Doesn't matter. I seldom buy those anyhow.  I came on home and put everything away and started to tidy up the apartment. I noticed at the lotto counter that a sign was posted they're not giving out any coins at all  right now. Thankful my daughters gave me quarter gifts for the laundry room. I might do a load today...or not.  I'll see how the energy level goes.

I was awakened at 3 a.m. with a horrendous calf cramp. Haven't had those in a while so figured I'd better get back on magnesium and potassium. Even though the PA I saw for my gut issues thought I should lay off of them for a while.  Come to find out, everything I was avoiding wasn't helping one tiny bit as I was sick all day yesterday with  diarrhea episodes. Oh lucky me! This is just going to be my life now. I've accepted it. The PA "thought" I might have colitis but I suspect it's IBS. Or both. Who cares? No one seems to know how to fix it. I transferred to my recliner at 3 as that usually keeps me from having another cramp. At 3:20, the suspension rod I had put up between two kitchen cabinets to hold various utensils, lost it's grip and everything came crashing down onto the sink. Scared the hell out of me and I wondered how many neighbors I woke up. Still can't figure out why that happened.

Was interesting strolling the Safeway aisles and seeing so many empty shelves. There were about 7 bananas so I took three. The girl working in the produce dept told me they were waiting on several shipments but trucks couldn't get in. She said they had a shipment of bananas but those are almost gone already.  I couldn't find some of the items I wanted so had to settle for alternatives but that's okay. At least I don't live in China or Russia. haha  I had wanted to buy some arugula as I watched this video on youtube about the seven foods you need to eat to stay healthy. The only arugula they had was this huge container that I was sure would go bad before I could use it all. Salmon was also on the list but the salmon I saw in the meat dept was $20.  Nope. Not today. I bought a can of salmon instead. I never did find pecans but maybe I can pick them up next time I go to Costco.  I also didn't find sauerkraut but it was probably in the vegetable dept and since it's something I never buy, I forgot to look for it. It was also suggested that I use extra virgin olive oil but that stuff was super expensive so I'll just use up what oils I already have on hand now.  Decided since my quest to eat healthier was going right down the toilet, I might as well buy some ice cream. And then I picked up a pkg. of peanut butter cookies. Yep. I'm hopeless.

I've got my living room window open about 8" inches right now. This apartment stays warm even through cold temperatures and I seldom have to turn on the thermostat.  I've got Alaska, the last frontier on tv right now. I've seen all the episodes but I still like to have it on. Way better than the news or even regular tv shows.  I watched the finale of Yellowstone last night. Fabulous story line but they ran out of steam for the finale and it was LAME!  I could have written a better episode!

Today I'm going to work on another quilt that is in process and a jigsaw puzzle that is about 1/3 done. Think I'll go look over the meat in the freezer and see what appeals to me for dinner. I did see an air fryer recipe on FB for cooking a baked potato that looked terribly good so maybe I'll just fix that with a salad. And top it off with ice cream, of course.  I found some biscuit in a tin on the door of the fridge yesterday so I air fried them into doughnuts and shared with the neighbors.  My neighbor across the way finally lost her huge icicle that I'd been keeping an eye on.  Hope we don't get anymore of that white stuff. I need to get myself up to Port Angeles for an oil change but I won't make an appointment until I'm sure I won't be dealing with mother nature.

Happy Birthday to my daddy who would be 99 today.
