The Saga continues....

Sitting here with golf playing on the tv.  They're at a place where thousands are watching and I'm betting a lot are drinking because the crowd is loud (and rude!)  Lots of booing. People are dumb.

I had to push myself away from the computer last night as genealogy searching was wearing me out. I knew this would happen but oh well, choose your poison.  I did decide to sign up for newspapers.com because I get one week free. And you can bet I'm going to search their files like crazy and then cancel before my free week is up and they want me to pay. It's expensive!  $75 for six months.

I'm mainly interested in a certain period of time of my family history. Mid 1800's to the present and the records are sparse for many of these folks.  I'll discuss each one on my genealogy blog once I get it organized better.  One of my grandpa's brothers (John) was a busy fellow and I found lots on his family but other brothers I had to dig. I was able to track brother James through all the census records but darned if I could find an obit. He never married so it could be an obit doesn't exist. My aunt Velna told me once he panned for gold in California. I don't know if this is true but I'll discuss ole Uncle Jim later.

Meanwhile, I'm going to throw on the steam and search as quickly as I can for all the siblings and aunts and uncles before my free week is up.  I try to move from hobby to hobby. The sewing room usually has more than one project going. Right now, one of those projects is this bin full of scraps that I want to sew into crumb pieces for a quilt.  I can only work on it for an hour at at time as it's tedious and I'm thinking the material lint makes me sneeze and get stuffed up.  There are times when I'm tempted to just take the bin down to the garbage can and toss it in -- but I could never do that!

I've decided to start watching 'The Crown' again on Netflix as I can't find anything of interest right now. I'm easily distracted and often don't give shows a chance. I guess because I'm old and my time is running out, I have to make sure sitting in front of the tv is worth the effort. Of course a lot of the time what I do choose to watch is pretty much crap anyway. haha

Last night I settled in on Youtube. Jumped around from one thing to another and watched several music shows -- Merle Haggard, George Jones, Randy Travis, Johnny Cash, Little Big Town, Etta James, etc.

I've got another jigsaw puzzle set up. This one is just 300 pieces as I haven't been able to stay focused on the larger ones. I think I've boxed up at least four puzzles in the last couple of weeks.  My patience level dips to zero and then I get pissed off that I'm sitting there wasting my time and not enjoying myself.

My granddaughter, Catie, is coming by tomorrow with her boyfriend so I'm looking forward to company. And daughter Jenni is stopping in on Tuesday. I don't get out and about to visit much. I probably should but I'm too lazy and seem to enjoy my own company a lot of the time. Not sure why as I'm basically pretty boring.

And on that note, I guess I'll sign off and get back on ancestry.com to look for dead relatives. Here's part of my organization routine. I made fresh folders for each person and put them all on  my desktop. Each ones has a bio and articles and photos. (on the right)
