Well, I've managed to keep myself busy pretty much all day. I started in sewing at 9 and worked on various little projects that I'd started now and again and then set aside. Nothing fancy; just needed to make stuff. After two hours, I put everything away and worked on the jigsaw a bit, played solitaire, and finished a book. I've got a few more on my book shelf that I picked up in the library downstairs so I'll probably look them over later tonight and see if I can't get hooked on one. I'm reading a murder mystery by Tami Hoag right now and a book by Andy Rooney that is pretty funny and well written.
I bought two cross stitch books online a few weeks ago and thought they were just what I wanted. But.... now that I sit down and study them closer, I'm realizing most of the designs are way more complicated than I want to mess around with. So, after feeling guilty about buying them, I returned them to my bookshelf and looked at my other cross stitch books. I like to work on something while watching tv at night but crocheting and knitting aren't really want I want to do.
I did find two patterns that I think will please me. One is an oldtime Santa that is quite long and thin and the other is a goose that I'm going to make yellow as it's too hard to use white thread on a white cross stitch material. Tomorrow I'll probably do the exact same thing I did today. Start with sewing and then work on the puzzle. I suppose I should be a tad bored but actually, I'm not. I've always liked quiet pasttimes.
I have a neighbor down the hall whose hobby is cooking and she's been giving me dinners at least 4 times a week. Tonight it was a turkey burger, some pork and beans, and this wonderful strawberry cake she bought. I love other peoples' cooking and she's one good cook! Way better than I am. She says she has so much food in her apt. that I'm doing her a favor taking meals. She apparently hates leftovers too. All the more for me. Boy, am I happy with the routine.
I've been watching the tree outside my window daily hoping to see leaves soon. Once it starts to bloom, it gives me a lot more privacy in here. Plus it's pretty to look at. I did go out and walk around the building using my two walking sticks again but it still was too uncomfortable for me so I think I'll just go back to using my walker. At least when I walk. Then I can move faster, go further, and stay out longer.
I have been hunting and hunting for this book I knew I wouldn't have given away and it's been bugging me to figure out where it was. I literally went to every nook and corner of this apartment looking for it. Today I find it sitting on my book shelf right where I put it. I must have picked it up half a dozen times not recognizing the cover. Hate it when stupidity sets in. But I'm happy it's found.
I watched a good dog movie on Netflix last night. 'Rescued by Ruby', a true story. I also watched one called Windfall. It was kind of slow starting and I almost turned it off but the ending was pretty much a shocker. Starred Jesse Plemons who I'm not real sure yet if I really like. He is up for an Oscar this Sunday. He was in Breaking Bad too. I always look forward to the Oscars even though more often than not, the show itself is pretty lame and I'm lucky if I've seen any of the movies. I also seldom agree with who won. Ha! I'll be watching Sunday for sure. I have seen Coda (and it's expected to win awards) and I started watching The Power of the Dog but lost interest. I'll never understand why Being the Ricardos was nominated. It was lame.
I don't know if you'd find this video interesting but I sure do enjoy watching all the ones where these people hit yard sales and thrift shops and goodwill. They show you what they paid and what they flipped it for on ebay. Fascinating.
