Last Monday of March

It's 5:45 pm and I just muted Dr.Fauci 'cause I'm sick and tired of hearing him talk!  I had the local news on for a little bit but ended up (as usual) turning it off because it was just one story of crime after another and I'm sick and tired of hearing that too!

The tree outside my window is finally getting little leaves on it and that pleases me. Won't be long and it will be covered and giving me more privacy from the apts across the courtyard. Not that anybody over there looks at me. I don't think you can see in unless it's night time and the lights are on and the curtains are open.  I always close them when it gets dark as I feel like I'm on display.

I did a load of laundry at 8 a.m. and debated whether or not to wash darks and whites with lighter stuff. I usually do because I only have one load and it cost $1.75 to run the machine and another $1.50 to dry. The colored load wasn't very big so I opted to wash everything together. Probably shouldn't have done that as I had a new pair of pajamas (black) that I was washing for the first time and I noticed an overall gray look to everything afterwards.  But you know what?  I don't really care. haha

I went to Safeway to buy a dozen things and took a couple pictures of the flowers outside their door. So pretty.

I rearranged my bedroom as I wanted to alter the way my machine is set up. It was kind of hard getting in and out of my closet so this way is better.

That white shelf has a quilt on the back of it so it doesn't look quite so dorky when you walk in the room.  Today I did a little sewing, a little jigsaw puzzling, and a little cleaning out of odds and ends.
Tonight I'm watching a movie or two on Hulu. I saw they're offering a few that were up for Academy Awards -- Flee, Summer of Soul, Nightmare Alley, Spencer, and Four Good days.  I had made a list of all the nominees so I could look them up and see if I was interested.

There's quite a few I might watch - Dune, The Lost Daughter, Parallel Mothers, and the Eyes of Tammy Faye. Not interested in seeing Will Smith in King Richard. I've never been impressed by him and after last night, I have no use for him at all.  I saw his face as he walked back to his seat after slapping Chris Rock and he looked smug and like he was waiting for applause. Big turn off for me.

The only movies I had seen before the awards was Coda (which I liked), The Power of the Dog (which I kinda' liked) Being the Ricardos (which I didn't like) and Don't Look up (which I didn't like). As usual, there were way too many women with their boobs hanging out. I did enjoy seeing the dresses, though; several were beautiful and several were "different".

The tribute to Godfather was lame lame lame! Al Pacino looked old and haggard but Deniro looked pretty good.  I didn't like one single song that was up for an Oscar but then they never seem to nominate songs worthwhile.  The three women hosts were like all the hosts -- lame.  Only one I really liked was Billy Crystal.

I was proud of myself for downsizing a few things this morning by putting them in the laundry room on the free table. It wasn't a lot but any time I get rid of even one thing, I feel successful. Only problem was there was a box of small frames sitting on the table and I took them all.  I've been doing cross stitch at night while watching tv and was thinking I might frame them from time to time (little ones) as gifts.

I've started two more books trying to get interested in at least one that might hold my interest. I started Light a Penny Candle by Maeve Binchy. I know she's a popular author but I don't think I've ever read one by her before.  I also started The Wednesday Sisters by Meg Waite Clayton (never heard of her but it was in the library downstairs) and Simple Genius by David Baldacci. I've read books by him before and usually liked them.

My neighbor, Michelle, brought me a fish sandwich for supper. Have I mentioned that I love her?  hee hee  Tomorrow she's fixing a turkey leg with dressing and veggies. Oh boy!  Donna Freitas brought me a sack of material this afternoon too.  I took what I wanted and then donated the rest to a neighbor lady who is wanting to make a quilt by hand but can't really afford material. She was thrilled.

Well, that's about all I have for today.
