I wish I knew what makes this laptop slow down to a snail's pace sometimes. It's been sluggish for hours and I can only wait and see if it snaps out of it. It's almost 3 pm and the day seems to pass much faster when you sleep in. I woke up at 2:30 a.m. and after an hour, I realized I wasn't going to drop off again unless I took steps. Got up and took an allergy pill that I know makes me sleepy. Moved to the recliner and put a hot pack on my sore back and I guess I dropped off as the next thing I knew it was 6 a.m. Went back to bed for two more hours. Dreams continue to wear me down. I swear they're getting weirder and weirder as I age.
I went to Safeway to get a couple items and decided to drive around town and take a few pictures. Nothing in particular; just whatever caught my eye. Trees and houses mostly. I'll put them below. Picked up butter for my neighbor and decided to treat her to a box of ice cream sandwiches that were on sale. She needed a pick me up. Yesterday was her birthday and she found out she has covid so she's quarantined. So is the rest of the building in a way. People are taking meal trays to their room instead of using the dining room and the manager cancelled all activities and housecleaning. Doesn't matter to me as I don't use any of those services. I gave myself a test and was negative but I suppose I'll give myself another one in a day or so, just for the hell of it.
I'm working on my bird jigsaw puzzle and a crumb quilt that I'm making following this series on youtube. It has 23 squares and she has yet to tell us how to attach the sashing. I'll probably finish the last of the squares tomorrow. I could do it today but have found I have to pace myself at the sewing machine or I get bored and achy.
Nothing on my calendar this week except a blood draw on Friday to see if my platelet count is going down or not. If it is, I'll be referred to a hematologist. Got a call yesterday from the urologist in Sequim but he can't get me in until May 14th so I had to cancel until the middle of June as I will most likely be in Vancouver for the month of May helping Mary while she recuperates from surgery.
Next Friday is Catie and Louie's wedding at a park on the other side of Port Angeles. The day after that I'll have two celebrations of life to attend. Lois Black and Russ Kunz. Mary Gaboury returns from Yuma April 28th so we'll probably hook up at some point before I head to Vancouver. Started watching an Amy Schumer show on Hulu yesterday called Beth & Life. It's a series and I found it pretty entertaining. Mostly, though, I've been binge watching Yukon Men on Discovery+. After 5 seasons I think I'm ready to explore other shows on that channel and there seem to be a lot to choose from.
Pictures I took today..... Wasn't all that pleased with the photo quality. I may see about investing in a better camera one day. Not yet, though.
This big ole tree was on Blaine Street near the Gael Stuart Building. Probably there when I was walking to school many years ago. This one is near the tree above. This road heads over to the high school.
Not sure why this came out so faded but it's high school kids playing tennis.
Tree next to the Catholic Church
I think? this house was going up on Blaine next to Dr. Plut's old house
This tree with white blossoms was much prettier in person. Ha!
And this one was more interesting in person too. It's a whole bunch of small tree trunks.
I always love weeping willows. This one was on the corner of Tyler & F
Another picture that was neater in person. Green house on Sheridan Avenue
Yellow house on the road going down towards the old A&W
More trees being cleared on the road to A&W for more homes. Or maybe one home since a whole lot of the houses being built now are huge.
