Rainy Rainy Monday

My granddaughter, Catie, is getting married this Friday OUTSIDE!  Please God, let it be nice for a couple of hours.  I'll dress warm and take my umbrella and I'm sure it will be okay. Am also a little worried mother nature might think it's necessary to throw in some snow or hail.  She'd better not!

I woke up early today (4 a.m.) and couldn't drop off again so I got up and did the crossword online, did the wordle (I solve it every day), played some solitaire, read the paper, and surfed Facebook. Then it was back to the recliner and I slept for another hour and a half or so. Of course that made me feel groggy the rest of the day. I did get some reading done this afternoon but that ALWAYS sends me to nappy land.  So irritating.

I went over to get my haircut by a friend (Judi Robbins) at 10 and at one point, I asked her about her sister, Cynthia.  She told me she had an inoperable tumor on her throat and they were very worried about her. Just at that moment, the phone rang. It was Cynthia's daughter informing Judi that her mom had died a few days ago.  Whew!  Poor Judi. We finished up my  haircut (I was mostly done anyhow) and I left quickly so she could call her daughter and grieve in private.   Dealing with death has sure become a common occurrence these past years.  I've got two funerals to attend on Saturday and two more lined up for May and June.

I came home after stopping at Safeway to fill up on gas and found the ambulance and firetruck were parked outside. A resident on the first floor was in distress. Apparently, they need to be called often for her. Sad.

I'm keeping busy with the same ole hobbies. Sewing, jigsaw puzzles, reading, tv, and computer. My friend Mary will be back from Yuma next week but I'll probably be taking off for Vancouver around the first of the month so we won't get a chance to hang out until I return.  No idea how long that will be. Possibly 4 to 6 weeks as my daughter recuperates from surgery.

I finished up watching 8 seasons of Yukon Men on the Discovery Channel. Kinda sorry to see it end. Even though it was first on back in 2012. I'm  always late to what's popular, I guess.  I'm watching Amy Schumer on Hulu now. A show she's written and stars in called Beth and Life. I really like it.

My neighbor brought me a wonderful Easter dinner plate yesterday. Ham, scalloped potatoes, peas, jello salad, pumpkin pie and strawberry cherry pie.  She fixed plates for at least five people.  The kitchen here continues to serve lame lame lame meals. The residents (who are on the package) got spaghetti and limp cauliflower.

I ordered 'The Boys' a book by Ron and Clint Howard the other day. Been watching them on youtube as they promote the book on several talk shows.  I've watched more than one interview and found them very interesting.  Yesterday I dog sat my sister's dog, Lucy, while she went to the casino in Kingston to play bingo. Not much on my agenda this week outside of the wedding. I am getting another covid booster shot on Wednesday.

Here's a picture Mary took at the Easter Egg Hunt she organized in her neighborhood yesterday. Jake is on the left in back.

And here's a photo I saw on Facebook. Taken by Glenn Gilbert of Water Street downtown.

And here's a fun video:
