Thursday afternoon

It's 3:18 p.m. and I'm sitting here eating an orange.  I don't often eat oranges (even though I like them) as they're sometimes hard to peel.  I'm finding more than one thing a little more difficult than it ever used to be -- opening cartain juice bottles, using my hand can opener, getting the inside foil off of various jugs or bottles that already made me fight to get the lid off, retrieving stuff from high cupboards and retrieving stuff from too low cabinets. Oh, the list goes on and on.

I got a surprise halloween box from Harry & David today. Kay Hermann sent it (bless her heart) and boy, did it help my morale.  Been stressed all week about an upcoming MRI and the box was a delight to see. The MRI is over with now and I worried for nothing. The tube is much nicer than previous tubes I'v gone in and it was a piece of cake and only 20 minutes long. I'll pick up the disk next Monday and take it to the pain clinic in Silverdale on Thursday so they can decide if back shots will benefit me.

Meanwhile my calendar is free until that day. Then I'll have a funeral to go to on Saturday (Dave Brooling) and a memorial at a home the following Saturday (Elaine Arey)  Got a mammogram and bone density test scheduled for the 14th and then Thanksgiving in Port Angeles on the 24th.  I suppose I might have to work in a pain clinic appt or two as well once I hear the verdict.

I had a dash light go on in my car (those drive me nuts) but thankfully, the problem was solved quickly and with no money out of my pocket. Seems the car's system can pick up on whether or not your tires are low and this includes the spare. Can you believe that?!  And it was my spare. It's never been taken out of its spot on the back of the car and in cold weather, they go down a bit.

I'm continuing to watch The Time of our Lives on the Acorn channel. Soap opera type but pretty good acting and story lines. I thought I was done but then realized there was a second season.

Am loving the cooler weather. I even have my windows open today, though, as this apartment seems to stay warm without the heat ever being turned on. Mailman brought me a book I ordered from thriftbooks today --paperback on the story of George Jones. I saw him an Merle Haggard on a youtube video at a talk show and the book was mentioned.  I'm still working on my Robert Mitchum book too but I'll get to them all sooner or later.

Think I'll enlarge the font on here, my eyes will appreciate it.

I went out to the research center Tuesday to make copies of ten obits I needed for my book. Right now I'm working on accumulating all the pictures I want to use. I've been making them small size but I never know for sure what I'm doing with picture inserts so it's all going to be a surprise once I actually start writing and inserting the pictures as I go. Fun project for me.  And it's helping me learn more about my scanner and various computer options I didn't know were available. I'll probably never get it all together but one step at a time is all I can do.  I've already deleted a handful of obits I was going to include as I realized I didn't actually have much I could share on my interactions with that particular person.  Meaning I didn't know them that well.  Am also having a slow time trying to locate photos on everybody. Some I thought I had in my collection but I sure can't find them. I'll be contacting family members as needed.

Saw this guy making quick pizzas on youtube and I think I'm going to make this for supper.

Judy Harwood and Nancy Mosher (sisters) dropped in yesterday to pick up a book Nancy wanted to buy. The Schools on the Hill.  WAs fun visiting with them as they had so much local history under their belts.

And here's Mary Gaboury at an early halloween party for her great grandsons.

I'm sure looking forward to Thanksgiving next month. I'm taking two cameras (and my phone) to make sure I get at least some good photos at this family reunion. My camera has been giving me photos lately that aren't exactly making me jump for joy.  They'll be a lot of us there. 15 I think. Fun times. And two dogs. I'm lovin' that part!
