Friday afternoon

It's 2:30 and the house is quiet. Mary took Jake to the pool and they'll probably be gone for close to three hours. I may just take a litttle recliner nap when I finish this. Holly Blankenship picked me up around 10 and we intended to go get rocks for painting. The place she had in mind was in Washougal and you could ride right down to the shore. Took her a while to find it but when she did, she discovered a big ole gate blocking the place. Darn! But I was fine with just riding around and she knew the Washougal/Camas area quite well as she and Jimmy used to live out there. Anyhow, we drove around and stopped at a couple of yard sales. Didn't buy anything though. On the way back into Vancouver, she stopped at Starbucks and got me a caramel latte.  It was heavenly. I never buy at Starbucks. Too afraid I'll get hooked on something and the prices are rather high. I had a delightful morning. Holly is a talker and very entertaining. Again, I forgot to take her picture.

Next week she going to pick me up and show me around the streets of Portland. I'm super excited about that as I want to see some of the neighborhoods where Sharon Sofie and I used to live back in '62/63. I'm really thankful that Holly reached out as I was beginning to wonder if I was ever going to hook up with someone.

Mary and Andy leave tomorrow. They'll go to Seattle to watch the Seahawks practice or something and the hotel they're in will let them park their car all week. They also have a shuttle to take them to the airport.  I'm all ready to be in charge of Poppy, watering the plants outside, picking up the mail and setting out the garbage next Sunday.

Tomorrow morning early I'll head to Safeway and get a few items I might need but otherwise I'll probably just stay in. Supposed to get real hot so I don't really want to go out in that.

I bought me a recliner yesterday. It will be deliverd in a week or so.I think I have a bit of buyers remorse though as I bought it from his catalog and never even sat in it. STUPID! But I was anxious to get a chair bought and I also didn't want Mary to have to take me out and about to find one. It'll probably be fine. I'll keep my old recliner in the bedroom so I can nap in it during the night if need be. I usually get up anywhere from 2:30 to 4:30 and move from my bed because my back or some other body part hurts.  Annoying as hell! Only bad thing is I agreed to the delivery charge of $150.  Big mistake on my part because the store is only 4 miles down the road and when I got home I called other furniture stores to see how much their delivery fees were. Anywhere from $40 to $95. Leave it to me to get ripped off!  But I'm learning, slow but sure.

Well, that's about all I have for today. Guess I'll go look at the Safeway ad on line and see if there's any good deals.
