Almost 7 a.m. and I've been up for hours. I just hate it when I wake up (like today at 3:30) and can't drop off to sleep again. Annoying but on the other hand, I need to remember that I am retired and I can take a recliner nap at my leisure. It's just not the schedule routine that I had planned. I vacuumed the house, ran a load of laundry, and did various computer chores and other odds and ends. Have errands to run but not for two hours as I await Walmart pharmacy to open.
It was a busy Thanksgiving day. I was thankful I only had to drive a mile to get home. I don't take it for granted when my car time is cut down. Just wish Mary and Catie didn't have to drive so far. (Renton and Kent) We took a couple goofy pictures as we waited for the turkey to cook. I was so mad at myself later when I remembered that I didn't get one of the four grandkids together LIKE I MEANT TO! I don't often get to see them all at once.
Catie and I spent some time crafting as she showed me how to use my drill. I'm still intimidated by it as I drill holes in sea glass to make necklaces. My pieces are kind of tiny so she gave me this grippers but it was still difficult to get a good grip. You have to do sea glass under water on a piece of board and you need to go slow. I thought I was going plenty slow but I still managed to break two drill bits. (diamond bits) sigh....
Catie showed me how I can buy bails to put on the back of glass pieces to make necklaces too so I'm going to try that. Ordered some on Amazon this morning along with some chains. The ones below are green and white although the white looks pink in this picture.
Mailman brought me fun mail yesterday. Two gifts --one from Penn and one from Oregon. My sister in PA made me a knitted hat and scarf and included a quilt book in the package too. A friend in Oregon (Redmond) sent me a neat wood cross her husband makes in his shop from myrtlewood. I put a magnet strip on the back so I could put it on my fridge.
My grandson, Jake, will be four on December 23 but I won't be able to make it to his party so he got to open my present early. I needed clues from Mary to figure out what he would like. I was surprised at this suggestion but he seemed to like them.
Catie and Brandon were able to help me figure out my cassette player gadget that would allow me to transfer some of my music to my laptop. So pleased to get that done as I have a couple hundred tapes that I want to get music off of. Not all the music; but some. She also downloaded a music website she felt was better for my needs than Itunes. Called Spotify and she put it on my phone too. I just ordered a cord on Amazon that will plug into the auxillary outlet in my car and allow me to play my Spotify tunes on my phone while driving. Means I won't have to carry CDs in the car anymore. Now I have to take my time and make play lists.
I won't see her for Christmas this year as Brandon is going to Utah to see his mom and Catie is flying to Grenada to spend almost two weeks (I think) with her half sister who is studying to be a doctor. Mary is flying to Vegas this morning (probably already left) as she will meet up with a friend from Atlanta for a birthday party for a friend. Mary has travel minutes and the motel is free so the whole trip is only costing her gambling money. Which she doesn't really do that much of.
Monday I'm heading to the casino for lunch with PT friends and later in the week (or maybe the following week) I need to get into Port Townsend to deliver my cookbooks to people who ordered. Also have other stops to make too. Sue and Paul are coming over for dinner on Thursday for her 53rd birthday. Man! How time flies.
Here's some pictures Catie took with her camera at Jenni's house...
