Saturday afternoon

Man, I sure have been cold today. I hope it doesn't snow again. I haven't been a fan of snow for several decades. Sometimes I need to get away from that front bedroom where my office and sewing room is. The hammering across the street can get on your nerves when it's going on day after day after day.  I can tune it out most of the time but since I live alone, the only noise in here is if I turn on the tv or radio so I pretty much always hear the hammers.

I moved my laptop to the kitchen table this morning as I planned to work on rock painting and I needed to refer to various websites online.  I sorted all the rock pictures I'd saved as they were in several places. Now they're all in one folder. As it turned out, though, I decided to paint my extra large rocks using applique patterns from a quilt book I have.  More relaxing than trying to dig up free form art talent that I don't have much of to start with.  Here's the collection that will keep me busy for a while. I've already drawn on them with pencil so it should be a fun time.
The kitchen area is combined with the living room so this larger space is difficult to keep warm.  Well, it is if you turn off the heat at night like I do.  I finally brought in my little space heater to put at my feet and that helps a lot.  I should probably rethink keeping the heat on low when I sleep but the problem is the heat register for this room is on the other side of my bedroom wall and it often wakes me up when it turns itself on.  I have enough body issues already interrupting my nightly sleep to add to the problem.

It's going on 4:30 and I haven't started to paint yet. Something tells me I'm not going to get to it today.  My energy level dips after a certain point and being productive goes into neutral. that's okay, though. I've got all week long.  I made a loaf of banana bread this morning. Saw the recipe on the all-bran cereal box which I opted to have for breakfast. It was made with bananas and I added chopped almonds too.  Delicious.

Dinner is going to be the homemade soup I made yesterday so I'm happy I don't have to put any thought into cooking.  After dinner I usually head for the recliner and pick up my counted cross stitch project. I decided a few weeks back I was going to make this winter sampler. Has deer, elk, trees, the alphabet, and tons of outside patterns.  Probably going to take me weeks to finish and I probably should get it framed or at least try to frame it myself as it will be nice.  Framing is so expensive. Kind of like having a quilt done on a long arm machine by a pro.  I can't really afford either so I try to do the best I can on my own.

I usually get most of my household chores done early. The sooner the better. This morning I decided a lot of my t-shirts (which I pretty much live in) needed some stain treatment. And how.  Thankfully, the system I use worked. A squirt of Dawn and let them sit and then a spray of Shout.  I need to take more care while cooking and eating. Ha!  Like that's gonna' happen!

Jenni forwarded a text she got from Maddie saying she had a good run time at her State cross country meet.  Mary sent me photos of Jake at a birthday party. The girl "really likes" him.  hee hee

My cousin, Cindy, posts the cutest pictures of her twin grandchildren and it sure takes me back to the period of my life when my grandbabies were that age.  She sent one yesterday of them washing dishes and it reminded me of a similar one I had when I lived on 16th St. in 2001.

And here's two Facebook posts that I saw that made me laugh out loud. Especially the Halloween one....

Stay warm!
