I figured I was going to take things easy today since I didn't feel well yesterday. Not sure what my problem was but my tummy was upset and I was tired, nauseated, and achy. Story of my life lately. I slept halfway decent night before last but of course, I seldom get two good nights in a row so I didn't sleep good last night. Tossed and turned and just plain hurt all over.
I did manage to hem a pair of pants this morning and pressed all the little squares I'd sewn together last week. That was more time consuming than I thought it was gonna be but I pulled out my small LP collections and decided I would listen to records while I worked.
I didn't recognize hardly any of the songs on the Officer and A Gentleman record so I may have to watch that movie again. I came across some old Groucho Marx shows of 'You bet your life' on Amazon so I've been watching them the last two nights. Entertaining but Groucha can get on your nerves too. I especially enjoyed seeing his special guests. So far it's been Johnny Weismuller and Joe Lewis. Both big guys!
Man, my hands are cold. I had to get up and turn on the heat in here. I had made up a batch of homemade weed killer and much to my dismay, none of the three squirt bottles I have will work! I can't see anything wrong with them so that's annoying. I saw another spray gadget in the garage but I think it needs to be hooked to the hose and I'm not sure how that works. I also boiled up some water as I'd read boiling water poured on weeds kills them. I think it works too as I dumped some on the weeds by the back steps, and they turned all brown and icky.
Wayne spent a couple hours replacing the screen on my sliding glass door yesterday. We watched a video on Youtube to make sure we knew how to do it. I say "we" but it was really all him. He's so patient with chores like that. I'm going to have to keep the screen open when Sammy stays as I don't want him to make his own door down below like he did the last one.
I decided to run over to McDonalds and get a burger for lunch. Went out to my car and the battery was dead. The Les Schwab guy came right away and charged it up. Come to find out, he's my neighbor a few doors down. I followed him back to Les S so we could test the battery.
We proceeded downtown to head across town and wouldn't you know....the city was working on the roads and all traffic out of town was going at a snail's pace. I sat for a half hour trying to get through it. That's one thing I hate about Port Angeles' roads. If anything happens on the highway coming in or heading out, you're out of luck to get by it and there's no other side roads you can detour to. It was a real mess!
Once at the tire store, the test showed my battery was almost dead so I bought another. Much to my disgust, they had none in stock but were expecting one tomorrow. I wasn't keen on leaving my car parked in the garage all night and then not having it start in the morning. They did have a battery I could buy but it was $40 higher. Of course. If I opted to go somewhere else, I'd still have to pay that $48 service charge but if I bought the battery from them, the fee went away. So....I got the damn thing! I suppose I got my use out of the one in the car as this was the first time I've had to replace anything like that. Damn thing cost me $200 and I thought that was outrageous.
All of a sudden, it's looking like rain outside. I hope it holds off long enough for Haley to come and do a little weeding for me out front. I'm going to boil up some more water so I can have her dump it on the weeds near the curb. That darn horsetail weed is impossible to get rid of. Twice now, fresh bark has been laid out front and both times that horsetail returns. I've read about it online and it takes a lot of work to get rid of it. Stuff spreads all over with the wind too.
