It's 12:30 and looks like the sun is going to make an appearance after all. I'm sitting here "on a break" wolfing down a hot dog and some grapes. I got up just before 7 and I was on the go from the minute my feet hit the floor. Have got to reel myself in now and again and remember that I'm 75 and not 45. It's not a race but when you're my age and making a life change, everything is a race.
It's been a productive so far. I unloaded three boxes of books at the library. My best stuff. I did keep two shelves worth for myself. Stuff I just couldn't let go.
And this collection is a major cutback for me. I tried to find a picture of my old bookcases but then lost interest. Did find this little collection that was next to the larger library.
I have one box alone that is nothing but old yearbooks from the 50's, 60's, and more. They'll all go to the storage unit for the time being. I'm working in the room now that is overwhelming. Books, records, CDs, cassettes, movies, knickknacks, material, gifts, framed pictures, and that's not even counting what's in the closet. Oh dear. It'll all end sooner or later.
Getting my books, clothes, and potted plants and flowers gone was a huge relief. Sue texted me a picture of where she put what she carted off yesterday...around her fire pit. Nice.
Mary had Jenni set up an appt. with the real estate lady she used so she's coming in ten days to look the place over, estimate a sell price, and tell us what needs to be done cosmetically. Even though I might not move for up to a year, Mary wants the place ready to move once that day arrives. I stopped at my local neighborhood grocery this morning to buy stamps and pick up a couple of Hit 5 tickets. The clerk told me her mom lives at Highland Commons as does another clerk who works at the store. Said I might not have a year wait because they are required to tell everyone that but sometimes it just works out that you get to the top of the list a lot quicker than you anticipated. I've got my fingers crossed but am being realistic too, and reminding myself that it will all fall in place when it's supposed to. The clerk saves the boxes on Tuesdays and Fridays so I'll be heading back there each time as they're really good boxes. Sturdy but not too small or too large (with lids).
I have my car parked in the driveway for now so I can utilize the garage for packing and cleaning, etc. Was tough pulling some of the heavier boxes out there but luckily, that particular room is right next to the garage. Things should go a little easier now that those heavy books and out there. I've got half a dozen bins of material to sort through and take out there next.
I finished painting my giraffes yesterday and plan on completing the Santa Claus ones later this afternoon.
I need to go online and see if I can research my friend's teapot that he picked up a yard sale. I'll probably end up in the same building he lives in. At least that's what the store clerk thought because those units are a higher rent and open up quicker.
Every day new thoughts enter my head of how my daily routine is going to change. No hummingbird feeders, no bird baths to fill, no flowers to water, no lawn to cut, no weeding (YAY!), no garage parking, no walk-in shower, no driving carefully up my street because of all the extra vehicles parked on both sides of the road, no damn helicopters flying over (Yay!), and no more having to vacuum and sweep so many large rooms.
Well, time to get up and do another round. Took a picture of my plum tree this morning as I noticed all the fruit appearing.
Oh, I just thought of something else. Mary's dog, Poppy, goes to doggy daycare three times a week and one of the other dogs there we found out is her sister. On the days she goes, she must have a really good time because she's so wiped out at home that night, Mary sometimes has to lift her onto her bed. Mary noticed when she picks Poppy up that all the dogs are barking to beat the band. She asked the owner how she could stand that all day long. She laughed and said: have you ever seen kids being picked up at a daycare and how they act up as soon as their parents arrive? Well, at this place, a bell rings when an owner is arriving and all the dogs know that it could be their mama coming to get them. They get all excited and when Poppy goes home, they're all barking goodbye. Cracks me up!
Are you thinking of moving to Highland Court? Is that in Port Angeles? I think the place Lew ( Spike ) is in is called Highland Court. Is it part of that entire complex there. If so, it is a nice area with nature trails and trees. Geez, I stop reading your blog because I just get busy and you make a big change! Take care, Lois
