Another day of Downsizing

Did pretty good today. The way I  can tell is that I'm exhausted!  Wayne dropped by after work to take home two heavy bar stools that Jenni had lent me for my bar area. He also took home this heavy record player/cd player that I had borrowed. Sadly for him, he arrived at the same time Sue did so he ended up helping her put all my potted pots in the truck.  He had to dig out part of the left side of the back fence so we could open both sides and let her back in.
I noticed that the neighbors across from me decided the area behind my fence must be a dumping ground. Even though we keep it mowed. He threw about twenty large rocks on the strip so I immediately threw them back on his lawn.  He had recently mowed and his area looks more like a field than a lawn but it irks me that he couldn't pile his large rocks in some corner of his own place.  I had the same problem with a previous renter in that house. He decided to dump his lawnmower clippings on my strip. I picked them up and tossed them right back on his property. What is wrong with people?

Wayne also took down all my wind decorations hanging from the eaves as Sue wanted them.  I had him move the patio table to the garage so I can have a working surface in there. He stuck the tall table umbrella back in the metal barrel I used for it during winter and I've got the car parked in the driveway now so I can work in the garage as needed to box things up.

I went to a grocery store for boxes but they didn't have any. He told me he'd save egg boxes as they're sturdy and have handles. I'll go back on Saturday to retrieve them.  I then stopped by the storage unit business and changed my waiting list for a 5x10 instead of a 10x12.  It's $55 instead of $80 and I think the smaller one will be all I need since I also have the garage.

I drove over to visit a friend who lives at Highland so I could see what kind of space he had in his one bedroom.  The bathroom and other areas are fitted for a wheelchair so that was nice to have a little room.  His fridge looks fine and so does the range. Also has a dishwasher.  The only drawback that I noticed was limited space in the living room. It was big enough for what I plan to take but I might sell my loveseat and get a small chair or rocker instead.  Mainly because I'll need to put my kitchen table in that room.  There's two or three possible spots I could put it but knowing me, I'll end up trying them all.  My table isn't huge but it does have a leaf to make it longer and I'll probably end up using that since that table will be for eating, sewing, painting, puzzles, and computer.  Yep!  Gonna be a busy little corner.  I do have another sewing table with two leafs that both fold down so I might use it for some activities too.  All in good time. I'll figure it out as I go.  Did let me know, however, just how much I really need to downsize or keep in the storage unit. Nice to know.

I got a little overwhelmed when  I went into my back room to put some books in boxes.  Always a heavy chore and I was thankful Wayne was able to put the boxes in the garage and out of the way. My plan is to take them to the library where I can park in front of the main door and then use their big cart on wheels to put the books on and wheel to the gift shop.  I've done it before with hundreds of books I got rid of.

I'm thinking I might put a sign out front whenever I'm working in the garage and have stuff to unload for free.  Just getting lookie loo's should help dispose of some of it.  It's unsettling not knowing how long I have to wait for this apartment but I'm thankful I'm not being rushed to move so that I can go with whatever time table is set for me. Tucker (my friend at the apt house) said he waited over a year but I'm hoping for under six months.  Gotta think positive. One nice aspect -- Tucker said he pays $30 to $45 a month for electric and doesn't pay water, sewer, garbage.  That right there will help my budget as my electric bill (which includes water, sewer & garbage) runs anywhere from $180 to $300 depending on the season and how cold it gets.

I've finished both bathrooms, my bedroom, and the living room plus the pots on the deck so that's pretty good progress.  That's only maybe 1/3 of the way (if that) but little steps will win the race.
I plan on taking it easy the rest of the day. Got a few rocks to finish painting and then I'll put all the crafting supplies away.  No sewing either as I plan on putting all the material bins in the storage unit.

Well, I guess that's about it for now.  Tomorrow I "might" make a book run to the library.  IF I'm up to it. Will be glad when those heavy boxes are taken off the to-do list.
